I always suggest first time buyer's to buy some cheap car in Craiglist with in 5000-6000, so even if you dent or scratch you dont need to worry. If you dent or scratch new car, you will loose few thousand in just one incident. Don't go to dealers for old card, its not worth.

 

Craigslist is always better for cheaper cars and dealers always better for expensive cars.

 

You can get corolla 2006-2008 in 5000-6000 with less than 90k miles. You can run it till 110k miles with no issues. go for it.

property tax, sales tax and insurance will be cheap if you buy in this range.
