After everything that I said, and you conclude that my contention is BJP is anti-dalit? No. That wasn't my argument.

I said, BJP is a center right party, which is trying to be cultural right. The cultural issues it picks up are detrimental to the poorest sections of society. What use is 'nationalism' to the dalits, tell me.

The right question to ask, if BJP wants to be a genuine cultural right party, is what has BJP done to outreach to dalits.

Pls don't tell that it has started 'Make in India', eased several regulations (I agree with all that), and that benefits dalits indirectly as they get direct/indirect jobs. That is just removing trade blockades for the UC guys to do business with ease. It hardly benefits dalits.

However pathetic BJP's response to Vemula, and Akhlaq, I doubt any other party would've done any better.

I'm just trying to tell you that economic right ideas like free trade don't sit well with cultural right that you support.

what about standup india scheme for sc/st. have you heard of it? it is scheme to encourage dalit entrepreneurship, give them loans to start business etc. what do you think of this?

probably just a repackaged scheme. Such schemes existed even in the previous regime.

dalit outreach has to be more noticeable. Enough for others to participate in it. Something like Swachh bharath. you may say the current climate is not suitable for such an outreach. perhaps true.

Which makes the current BJP strategy of using 'nationalism' as bait, utterly hypocritical. Because it doesn't care that it puts the same sections of society it wants to serve, in danger.

Why not just focus on 'development', and come up with data backed fair reservation policies, and be done with it? Why pretend to be torch bearers of 'culture', when you are just interested in representing the interests of only a few castes.

good example of right wing politics is my existence. I'm not even Tamil, hardly lived in TN for 15yrs, and was for the most part bullied, beaten at school, because I was short, had a lisp, etc etc.

But still I support Tamil causes. Its not stockholm syndrome. the same people who beat me at school are now my best friends. dravidian nationalism, has convinced me that it actually cares for everyone inside TN.

Can BJP convince dalits of the same? Is there a safe space for dalits inside Dharmic society where they can freely voice their opinions and experiences with upper castes, without being silenced?

can you pls enlighten me which scheme of previous regime was similar to standup india?

I'm not a journalist to have these things at my fingertips. I even used the word 'probably'. I'm not too keen to google my way to present you stuff, that is beyond the scope of this discussion.

I doubt this program would be successful anyway.

what about vanniyar? Yes, dravidian nationalism has weakened in TN. To be replaced by casteist forces. I don't understand your question.

I'm not claiming draividan politics have been good to dalits. They are under attack by Vannaiyars, Thevars, etc. But it has been good enough for them to improve their social standing enough to stand up to these attacks.

Anyway my point was with intellectual vaccuum in Hindutva that doesn't do enough to attract groups that it considers as not part of its core.
