When an dalit ABVP student couldn't stand the character assassination attempts on Vemula, by his fellow ABVP leaders, where exactly does a dalit go to voice his concerns on the leadership's attitude towards his group?

This is one question the Indian right can never answer. Their entire 'big umbrella' is a huge joke. That's why they are called party of brahmins. Not because they are 'brahmins', but their attitude is one of cultural hegemony, while denying others within their own umbrella equal cultural space.

i saw and heard what veluma said and he is a first order idiot.i don't care which ever caste he belongs to.

ok...lets see if dalits really feel that way in coming UP elections with all the noise over vemula and cow politics.....lets see the dalit vote share BJP will/will not get....

my larger point that media/opposition raking up fake stories about dalit atrocities done by pro-bjp/rss people will not stick with the ground level voter....atrocities on dalits have been going on previously also ... Vemula story is too murky and too political that no one in hyderabad even cares anymore let alone UP....and opposition trying to balme bandaru dattatreya as anti-dalit is laughable ..anyone who is from secunderabad knows what kind of a person he is and the support he enjoys among masses and dalit wada's.....

lets see if the whole BJP is anti-dalit line sticks....

good try man. dalit in UP will identify with Vemula story? perhaps students at universities may. Not the unwashed masses. They wouldn't even have heard the name.

What is 'murky' about Vemula story? It is the story of many dalits across universities in India. Its so cute how you brush aside dalit experiences as 'fake', but want to maintain status quo by showing sympathy to poor upper caste.

atleast the lack of pretense about welfare of the poorest section of Indian society is refreshing.

I'm not in tune with Indian politics like I was 3yrs ago when I first came into this db. I find it extremely nauseating. People who talk of 'nationalism', but only care to discuss useless issues like yoga, ayurveda, and not people's welfare. People who are supposed to be part of that nation.

This is a bit like hand waving that GOP does in America.

Their rhetoric - high taxes, big regulations hamper 'entrepreneurship' and 'wealth creation', and the economy is growing slower than it was in the 20th century.

okay. Lets look at the tax rates during the 20th century? :)

utterly delusional, and dangerous people these are. No sense of history. Except the urgency of demographic time bomb with rising muslim/immigrant population. Scaremongering is the only thing they are good at.

economists are crap, intellectuals are crap, media is crap, but our regular joe's intuition is spot on. He must be right when he says that those pesky 'regulations' and minimum wage killed his business. haha..

Find a few such regular 'joes', and start hitting the people with some or the other BS message. This is what both the conservaives and liberals are doing today.

Left, with the help of sellouts in mainstream media, Right, with the help of psychotic spin masters in social media.

i said in my post that atrocities on dalits have been happening ..where did i say all of them are fake....i was talking about branding BJP/RSS as anti-dalit particularly and creating some fake narratives  ...and that is a real thing thats happening now...

i seriously don't understand the point you keep trying to make about how BJP's nationalism debate will be pitted against dalits or some other section in particular.....
you mean to say dalits will purposefully  do things that will be perceived or projected as anti-national ....you seem to want to completely disassociate dalits with hinduism or conveniently group them into people who dont want to identify with Indian nationalism ....hmm..

and how cute of you to always talk about taxes/trade as if only those things are important to the welfare of people...you seem to think that welfare is mutually exclusive to other agendas like nationalism and cultural issues.....it is not....

you really are not in tune with indian politics ....dalit vote is not a monolith like muslim vote bank....lot of factors come into play....not everyone of them wants to identify with Vemulas of the world ...who think anti-nationalism is a cool thing or will achieve anything concrete....

BJP's nationalism will be pitted against anyone who fights against them. Who's more likely to fight them? Its obvious. Muslims/dalits/minorities.

I think Indian nationalism is hollow. It has no meaning beyond soft Hindu connection among people from different parts of India.

I don't see the need to push it hard. There's enough 'hinduism' to go around in state politics to keep hinduism alive for centuries.

I don't think you even understand that Vemula world. He's just a young person trying to form a coherent world view. One without too much contradictions. That's what people do when they are naive. Its not like he did anything anti-national. The burden of proof is on the govt. to prove if he did. Not just throw around false stories defaming him to save incompetent ministers like Irani, and Bandaru.

I atleast know enough about economics, to see through the hypocrisy of rightist (india/US) rhetoric.

I see through leftist rhetoric too, unlike you.
