Let us recall yet another popular Telugu adage: “Aloo ledu, choolu ledu, koduku peru Somalingam” (There is no wife yet, nor is there any pregnancy; yet, he wants his son to be named Somalingam).

This adage aptly applies to Andhra Prabha Telugu daily, which has beaten all types of yellow media, in its sycophancy towards Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

On Monday, Andhra Prabha carried a banner story saying Naidu got the advance invitation from Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party candidate in the forthcoming US elections, for her swearing-in ceremony in January.

It said Naidu, who was supposed to go on a US tour in November postponed his trip to January only because he got the invitation from Hillary.

It went on to say that Naidu had a close relationship with Clinton family and explained how Naidu hosted a rousing reception to Hillary and her husband Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea during their visit to Hyderabad in 2000.

It also recalled how Lokesh Babu took Chelsea around Hyderabad to show its old world charm. And Hillary remembers all this and hence, sent her advance invitation to Naidu, much ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. And Naidu would go there and work towards improving the relationship between Andhra and the US.

The story also adds how Naidu, sitting in Amaravati, has been influencing Telugu voters in the US to vote for Hillary in the coming elections. And hence, she has shown the gratitude.

Well, Andhra Prabha has definitely thought there are big flowers in the ears of its readers. First of all, the US elections have not yet been held and there is no guarantee that Hillary would win.

Even if she has the confidence, how can she decide the swearing in ceremony date and send invitations to Naidu alone? But, that is called sycophancy!
