We caught up with Sumathi who delivered a couple of days ago. A graduate, she had gone to a private hospital in Kakinada for her first delivery in 2013. After CBN took charge in 2014, the healthcare delivery process in government hospitals was transformed significantly. Sumathi preferred government-run Primary Healthcare Centre in Tallarevu instead of Private hospitals that were unaffordable. She underwent several check-ups at the Tallarevu PHC and delivered a healthy baby boy weighing a good 3.2 kilos. She was given an NTR Child Kit which is keeping the baby warm and mosquito-free. A cheque of Rs.1000 was given so she could buy herself food essentials to help her recuperate fast. The boy's birth certificate was given on the spot and she was sent home in a Talli-Bidda express van.

And this is how thousands of mothers are being treated in Andhra Pradesh every day because they are precious and must be protected at any cost.
