whatever the idiocy of Modi, atleast one has to accept the timing was brilliant. There's two and half yrs for the next general elections. Unless there's a recession because of this move (quite possible), or if the rural economy gets destroyed (highly probable), people will simply move on.

there will be 3-6 month recession. but then inflation will also dip big time. once people get cash consumption will shoot up again(coz of low prices) thus bringing things back on tract

Trump's prediction is however different from this. This is a governance issue. the issue is simple, 2100 crore notes have to be replaced, how many has the govt. printed so far? Govt. has failed to answer this question.

Simply saying, 'theres enough cash, enough cash' is silly, when withdrawal limits are changed at the fancy of whoever is pulling the lever on that particular date. Demand transparency from the govt. man. Don't defend them.

there is a reason why 500 notes are still not circulated overall. wait till dec 31st to get more shocks and surprises

I was in India when this decision was made. I was on a holiday, and cut holiday short, because of lack of access to cash (we wanted to travel to some rural parts of TN and KA). I can't be bothered to stand in queues, where people praise their supreme leader. I'll lose it and start shouting anti Modi nonsense.

What I'm saying is simple common sense. I don't need media to tell me how people are suffering. It's obvious they will suffer, but the suffering won't be sudden, it'll be long drawn out, and that's why the reaction is slightly muted from the upper middle class guys.

The transition won't be as easy as modi govt. is suggesting.
