NEW DELHI: Rabi, or winter crop, planting increased 36% over the past week, in contrast to expectations in some quarters that the scrapping of high-denomination currency notes would adversely affect sowing.

Winter crops were planted on 327.62 lakh hectares as of Friday, compared with 241.73 lakh hectares on November 18, according to data from the agriculture ministry. The acreage planted is 4.62% higher than a year earlier, when crops covered 313.17 lakh hectares.

look out for CMs/leaders who know the peoples pulse ...Nitish/Navin Patnaik ....and also Ram vilas Paswan who is in modi cabinet but is known as a swing man ..who opposes govt on farmer issues....

if these people are not raising much of a concern then I will take it that the rural area is not much impacted.....

Even CBN raised some concerns last week ...but seems like he is ok now....

Sharad Pawar is another politician to look out for to gauge public mood ....

these leaders know which way the wind is blowing.....

the united opposition 28th Nov bharath bandh is also called off now looks like.....no public support for it...
