A dangerous trend is catching up quickly in Tollywood. The concept of 'paid views' or 'paid hits' for movie trailers is the latest buzz word. From a few star heroes to a few small heroes, no one is an exception in resorting to devious means to increase the hits on the trailer. Even films having low craze have seen shocking number of hits in very less span of time. And these dummy views for trailer are being propagated widely to increase hype on the film. Fans who are engaging in constant battle with rival heroes' fans too using these fake views as a strong weapon to target the antis. As soon as the dummy views crop up fans start chest-thumping and try to mock opponents on social platforms. This battle between fans is also one of the reasons for stars, producers to opt to these paid hits.

The illegal boosting of hits is an industry that is thriving on publicity-craving people who'd like to show off their following. What's shocking is that even the young heroes are now opting out to this cheap click fraud to show that their trailer too has good number of hits on par with stars and market their films.

Now, there are a couple of marketing companies operating out of Hyderabad who have mastered in this act and conveniently increasing the views of youtube videos. For instance, these teams have tie ups with various 'click farms' who has large data base. Funny thing is that as soon as a trailer is released, views for the trailer would come from Nigeria to Brazil to Vietnam to China to many countries where Telugus have relatively less population. These gimmicks used to drastically increase views within hours of its release are under scanner.

An unimaginable number of hits for a recent trailer has become talking point in industry circles. Although the director and hero's last films were failures, how they managed to pull off these numbers have become a mystery. Not long ago, trailer of another star hero has witnessed a record views in short time. However, the film later proved to be hit and the mystery behind its trailer views have gone into oblivion. These two case studies are only tip of an ice berg as there are many such cases who have gone unnoticed. Several suspicions are now being raised on the number of hits for trailers, teasers of Telugu movies of late.

This is now worrying other big stars as it'd make people lose credibility on YouTube hits and thus even the trailers with genuine hits would be wrongly interpreted as fraudulent views. The paid trailer views would not just mislead the star, producer but it also misleads trade - distributors, buyers who invest money on films seeing the craze.

One may manipulate and get paid views for trailers via dubious means. But one has to see how they could pull crowds to theatres. What say folks?
