HYDERABAD: In a major boost to AP's industrialisation, Apollo Tyres Limited will set up a state-of-the-art tyre manufacturing unit in chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's native Chittoor. AP has been competing with neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Telangana for the Apollo unit.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the state government and Apollo Tyres in New Delhi on Thursday in Naidu's presence.

The company will invest about Rs 3,000 crore in phases. In the first phase, it will set up an ancillary park on 200 acres at a cost of Rs 541 crore at Chinnapandur village. This is the biggest industrial investment in the backward Rayalaseema region, which is infamous for its drought conditions and migration of the workforce.
