A condolence tweet by actor Kamal Hassan after the demise of Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha on Tuesday gained the attention of social media and led to controversy, after it was picked up Amma supporters and other Tamil people on twitter.

'My deep condolences to the people who are dependent on Jayalalitha,' tweeted Kamal in Tamil. Apparently, in next few minutes, his tweet was bombarded with a volley of strong and serious replies from Amma fans.

Comments to his tweet have grown the heat and the actor, who's in US and missed paying a last visit to Amma, was severely slammed on social media. Check out a couple of responses to his offending post on twitter:

'what's the point in being well learned if there is no decency. Shame I used to be a fan of yours.'

'You should have kept quiet instead of this bullshit tweet'

The 68-year Jaya, who was cremated at Marina beach this evening, earned a roaring adieu from party supporters and fans across Tamil Nadu. Other celebrities and politicians have hailed Jayalalitha to the core, while paying homage to her through tweets and Facebook posts. -
