Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa passed away couple of days back leaving everyone tear struck. Film fraternity remembered her beauty, glamour and powerful performances especially in Tollywood where she romanced NTR, ANR, Krishna, Jaggaiah etc. Her closeness and so called affair with Sobhan Babu is much talked about though they starred only in one film Doctor Babu.

 

Tammareddy Bharadwaj, whose father produced the film shared “Sobhan Babu was nervous at the prospect of meeting her,” and added “We introduced Jayalalithaa to Sobhan... and he was thrilled,”

 

Young Tammareddy at that time was assisting his father. He said “My brother Lenin directed this film. When we introduced Jayalalithaa and Sobhan Babu, it was a dream come true for him as she was a top actress and when we informed him that she was the lead actress, he was the happiest person,”

 

On their relationship he revealed “They got to know each other during our film and would talk on the sets. But she maintained a dignified distance on the sets of the film. No other actress can ever match up to her in terms of dignity, seriousness and her professional behaviour.”

 

Sobhan Babu himself confessed that he waited for 8 years to realise his dream to romance Jayalalithaa and said after Veerabhimanyu, a producer after paying Rs 1000 advance saying his next heroine was Jayalalithaa, disappeared in 1965. He said only in 1973 he got the chance to star with Jayalalithaa. He said Jayalalithaa liked him treating him as true friend and even confessed to him that he was like her mother showering love unlike others who were after her money. Jaya's mother passed away and Sobhan Babu made her feel at home. Sources say Sobhan Babu avoided her after she tried to marry him.
