Decent solution for the reservation issue.

1. increase the reservation quota to 90%.

2. A slight 10% reservation within the 90% for dalit and ST groups.

3. corporation/municipal/panchayat level schools will share that percentage, somewhat proportional to the access.

4. All corporation/municipal/panchayat level schools will receive proportional treatment based on the size of the city they are located in. No one school shall receive preferential treatment compared to other schools in the same area.

5. rich people, upper castes are free to come and study in these schools and take advantage of the reservation.

6. People who study in private schools are on their own. good luck to them.

or may be go easy on the alumni donation thingy. And introduce a rule that only students from schools with 90% BPL families are eligible for reservation.

Irrespective of their caste.

Only solution is to implement universal equality. Uniform civil code.

remove importance to caste based and religion based importance and implement uniform civil code, in 10 years we. And see the result.

Only reservation shoukd be economically backward reservation.

Remove restrictions on quota basis and implement 50% reservation for economically backward only in government based institutes and one can see the result in one generation.

And remove quota in private educational institutions.

why doesn't Tn apply this model first

because this is a horrible model. Problems with this.

1. Who takes up the management of these schools. The lowest unit of govt with power of taxation in India is the corporation/panchayat. If one lets them take the lead, Indian public schools will end up like US public schools. Still better than Indian ones currently, but the class divide will be as worse as in the US. But this is the least of its problems. State govts can bear this burden, and that comes with issues of its own.

2. There is no mechanism that can oversee students with means, not take up extra tuitions to gain competitive advantage over their peers. It is simply not a good idea to stop students/parents acting in their self interest.

3. The criteria of 90% BPL for a school to avail reservation benefits for its students is a bit harsh on poor people who end up studying in schools that don't meet this criteria. Either because they don't live in the area that this school serves, or whatever reasons.

4. I'm unable to come with a mechanism to create competition within these public schools, without leaving too many poor students out.

So yeah, this solution is utter crap. I agree.

Good but economically backward reservation is also not required. Should just remove all and any forms of reservations. Make discrimination based on race, region, caste, religion, age, gender or any such natural characteristics of a human as crime with penalization.

equality in opportunity is quite a hard social and economic problem to solve, without resorting to communism.

May be the current reservation system is the best model. Targeted reservations, that help particular communities.

Just hope that the power to give reservations to particular communities is taken away from politicians. But that would defeat the whole purpose of a democracy :(

Note to myself: world is chill. its perfect or close to approaching perfection in slow motion. so go fcuk yourself. Next time, when someone rants against reservations, give him your fist. Make the punch count. :)

Adios Amigos.
