Man beats up his parents for giving away his goat testicles

The Harare man who battered his parents and two other family members, accusing them of giving away goat testicles, which he considered a delicacy, was on Thursday imprisoned for three months after he was convicted of assault charges.

Magistrate Wongai Muchuchuti, however, suspended the custodial sentence on condition that Livingstone Mabvudzi does 105 hours of unpaid work.

Mabvudzi two weeks ago gave his mother Merjury (72), father Cornelius (76), aunt Martha Mutsvanga (65) and sister Whitney a thorough hiding after they gave away goat testicles to a neighbour.

On the day in question, Mabvudzi is said to have confronted his mother and shouted obscenities accusing her of being a prostitute.

Mabvudzi allegedly proceeded to hold her by the collar and ordered her to go to her rural home.

He allegedly turned on other family members and assaulted them over the missing “delicacy”.

Meanwhile, 29 Caledonia Farm residents were yesterday arraigned before the courts for contempt of court after they defied a High Court order barring them from continued residence and construction work at the property

High Court order HC4187/15 barred the residents from staying at Lot 1 Caledonia Farm on May 15, but the 29 defied the directive by staying put at the disputed property.

Magistrate Tendai Mahwe fined 23 of the residents who pleaded guilty to the charge $20 each or alternatively five days in prison.

They were also slapped with two months’ imprisonment, wholly suspended on condition that they are not convicted of an offence involving contempt of court for the next five years.

Violet Paulos, Learnmore Ngwavasha and Isaiah Nyamaropa, who pleaded not guilty, were remanded to November 11 on free bail.

Francisca Mukumbira appearing for the State opposed bail for Diva Sithole, Lawford Denhere and Davison Chaerera. There were denied bail and remanded in custody.
