Social media doing more damage than good to society/people?

I am wondering if this social media some how doing more damage to the people than helping? Like slow poisson, it started slowly changing the way people think and behave.

Yes. There is a research and it states that people are getting depressed with social media.

But its good for India for few years at least. News is reaching fast everywhere and social media campaigns are helpful in helping people. Not so in western countries. Like that girl telecasted her suicide live on facebook.

People dont really talk to each other anymore.....Basic relationship building skills have been destroyed by this technology.....

These social networking and smartphone based media has to be tightly controlled by each and every individual.....

it has to got a time....unless your job is to look at the emails every 10 seconds or your job demands looking into theSocial  networking apps every 10 seconds (Social Campaign managers etc.)

We have to learn to put our smartphones aside....and start enjoying real world....have a disicpline to use these technologies and just get want you want....dont get lost to it....dont submit yourself to these technologies....

Especially KIDS's...at danger......they will never learn to sit at a dining table and have meanigful conversation..EVER....if this continues... it will only make them unresponsive to emotions....which is the core of what we humans stand for......

Good point. We will eventually be replaced by Humanoids aka Intelligent machines anyway. So yes humanity is on it's last leg now.

Yeah, at first we will have AI taking up Automation and reduce manual work like Agriculture and manufacturing then the complicated tasks which we humans have tough time to master, like medicine based on genetics....surgery and faster recovery rates...etc...

But the next phase will be dangerious when these AI enter political decsion making.....Once the self replicating AI arrives....its the doomsday.....AI will not stop....and they will be naturally curious to explore....so in a way they will be our descendants ....exploring the neighboring star systems.....galactic exploration will be a far stretch but can be possible only by self replicating AI....
