ACB RAID on GUNTUR CI - Locals celebrate - Good Trend

Guntur: The ACB raided the home of Ongole Police Training College Deputy Superintendent of Police D. Durga Prasad, at Brodipeta in Guntur on Wednesday and were met by the unusual sight of people gathering outside the house and bursting firecrackers to express their happiness. The ACB also searched the homes of Durga Prasad’s relatives in Guntur, Chirala and Ongole.

 

The celebrants said that Durga Prasad harassed the public while working in Guntur rural and Pattabhipuram police stations. N. Sowjanya Kumar, the grandson of AP's first speaker, N Venkatar-amaiah, and his friends were among those celebrating. Mr Kumar said that his land was encroached upon and so he lodged a complaint with Durga Prasad who was CI. But the policeman supported the encroachers, demolished his house and handed his land to the encroachers.

 

He alleged that Durga Prasad harassed many people while working as CI of Arundelpeta, Guntur rural and Pattabhipuram, using his influence. He sought stern action against the DSP.

 

Eleven teams led by ACB DySP A. Rama Devi raided the houses of S. Ramesh, T. Subba Rao, Kausalya and other relatives of Durga Prasad. Ms Rama Devi said that the checking was under way and details would be disclosed after the raids.

 

The ACB found gold, papers of 24 plots of land and a ship during a search of the home of Durga Prasad. ACB director-general R P Thakur said Durga Prasad has been arrested and a case of disproportionate assets has been registered against him. He said searches were conducted at 14 other places in Guntur, Chirala, in Prakasam district, and Hyderabad.
