Don't listen to these guys. These guys will confuse you with info based on their assumptions and their creativity. My suggestion is first try to get the base range from HR only and start from upper range. For every position, there is budget and if properly requested, HR will provide that info. You don't want to start on the wrong foot. 

Also, try to find someone who is currently working through friends and get details about bonus and RSUs
