Dont Say this to all, Telugu is a part of madhya dravida bhasha, tamil, kannada, malayalm as dakshina dravida, brahui, maltho are uttara dravida bhasha. they all have roots from proto dravidian language or moola dravida bhasha. Tamil is oldest of all dravidian languages but telugu is not derived from tamil. Get your facts right. Centre point of debate with this fake pakodi aravams is they feel proto dravidian language is nothing but Tamil.

main-qimg-ff189ec9e11b2715cafe63910bb3c4c1-c?convert_to_webp=trueOrigins of name ‘Tamil’ can be traced to Sanskrit and Prakrit languages, in the sequence, Dravida (Sanskrit)→ Dramila (Prakrit)→ Tamizha or Tamil. While the name ‘Telugu’ can be traced to Proto-Dravidian (PD) itself. Originally it was ‘Tenugu’, there is ‘n’ to ‘l’ alternation. ‘Tenugu’ means people of south, ‘Ten’ being south in PD. Etymology proves the ancient origins of ‘Telugu’.

a brilliant reply from quora regarding this so called tamil propaganda!!

Classical status is merely a political gimmick to please the DMK party, a congress coalition’s partner. Weak Manmohan Singh simply surrendered to the arm twisting by DMK. Today, going by the same logic no one can stop PM Modi from declaring his own mother tongue, Kathiawadi as another classical language, why not? I'll vote Modi if he does.

However, rest of the world doesn’t take notice of these cheap gimmicks. Classical languages are never created by passing government orders. World scholars have already recognized five as world classical languages, Tamil is NOT one of them.

It is only a popular misconception to assume that Cameroon, Korean and Japanese as related to Tamil. The truth is, they sound similar because these are "agglutinative" languages with similar grammatical structure of subject, object and verb order. Any two languages always have a percentage of common words known as 'cognates'. These factors doesn't really fool linguistic experts. So, they have dismissed all such claims.

By weaving together, fiction, myth and politics, an aura of hype and hubris has been created around Tamil language. However, the truth is opposite, even its own name is borrowed from Prakrit, DAMELLA became TAMIL. In comparison, Telugu didn’t borrow its name from Prakrit because it predated the arrival Prakrit speakers.

Tamil was a NO-NAME language during the Pandyan dynasty. So called ‘Senthamizh” is not a real name, in fact it is a common ancestor of both Tamil and Malayalam. The references that you have quoted are simply ignorant of this fact. Please prove me wrong.

Being an elder sibling, Telugu is spoken in more dialects, 20 compared to only 10 of Tamil. The number of dialects is a true indication of the relative antiquity of languages. As an analogy, an older person is likely to have more descendants than a toddler, don’t you agree?

Telugu has more native speakers and occupies larger geography than Tamil. In comparison, Sanskrit has evolved into than 350 dialects occupied entire North India and its influences have spread into entire South East Asia. Compare this with the tiny foot print of toddler Tamil.

You might be aware of the fact that, first the Government of India recognized Tamil and Sanskrit as Classical languages. Then ensued struggle by the people of Andhra Pradesh and  Karnataka  to have Telugu and Kannada too declared as 'classical languages' as these two languages readily meet the published criteria. The Government of India resolved, after being satisfied with the merits of both Telugu and Kannada to be so categorized, to declare both as 'Classical languages'. Then came litigation by a leading attorney from  Tamil Nadu  before the  Madras High Court , seeking to quash the GOI's decision in so far as 'Telugu' and 'Kannada' are concerned.

ipdu ana ardam cheskondi mana arava brothers politics, 2004 lo dmk pressure ki congress lafoots decclared tamil as classical language ante kani dani history validate chesi kadu.
