Recommended Posts

My opt got expired on jan 10th 2017 and I my packet reached in nov 17th 2016.
So, as of now its 70th day and I didnt get any update from USCIS.
Currently who have applied on nov 10th 2016 are getting approved.
The main concern of this post is to know whether i can travel to india or not?
I have flight tomorrow, which is on 28th of jan.
Wherein my friends can collect the card and post that my India address.
Please let me know are there any chances of getting rejection or RFE now?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

if you can't get EAD before you board, then you can't enter back again.

Suggested, post-pone your trip if you can..

if OPT or OPT STEM Extension Application is pending

  • A valid passport with unexpired F-1 visa stamp
  • OPT or STEM OPT I-20 Form I-20, signed on the bottom of page 2 by an International Student Advisor at  International Office within the preceding 6 months
  • I-797c Notice of Action Receipt from USCIS
  • Employment Offer (recommended)

NOTE: If there are any problems with your application to USCIS and you are outside of the US, it may be difficut for you to respond. If you are outside the US and your application is rejected or denied, it may not be possible for you to return to begin or resume your OPT. If you choose to travel while your application is pending, be sure that you are monitoring your mail and  USCIS Case Status online AND that you communicate with BIO about your travel plans.

If OPT or OPT STEM Extension is approved

  • A valid passport with unexpired F-1 visa stamp
  • Form I-20, signed on the bottom of page 2 by an International Student Advisor at International Office within the preceding 6 months
  • Unexpired EAD Card
  • Proof of employment (or employment offer)

DOn't worry safe travel
