Amaravati: A national media report goes that Japanese Company Maki and Associates was cheated by Andhra Pradesh government. In fact report says that AP govt is under scanner for dropping Maki as master architect for Amaravati capital.   The Council of Architecture under the Union HR Department sought explanation from CMO regarding the reason for dropping the firm after it submitted the model designs.   Maki approached Centre and complained about AP govtVP of Council of Architecture Vijay Garg said that they sent a note to the state government after Maki and Associates complained that they're dropped as the master architect for Amaravati. The Council is a statutory body that monitors professional standards in the architecture.   In March 2016 Maki was selected as the master architect. However AP govt dropped off the firm after initial designs they gave were not up to mark. Maki in its letter to the Council, accused TDP regime of unfair practice and lack of transparency and that their removal was fraudulent.   Maki also told to the council that reps from AP government in their Tokyo visit last year, insisted they work with Mumbai based designer, Hafeez Contractor, as the local architect and that it had acceded to AP govt's demand even after having their own Indian collaborator/s.   AP govt owes explanation to the Council!
