Lt Col Stock is not only an originator but also one of the leading immigration lawyers esp for military law in the nation. So she wouldn't have said all that without any basis. You are already in the program and things are a lot different now from the time you enlisted so you may not be aware of the latest process and procedures. 

And no those people aren't on an EAD or GC, they were on a visa. 

okay.. gotcha... still move forward with proper ground work... as we are from the notorious India China batch...
