you should read this book - Bad Samaritans: Myth of free trade and capitalism.

andulo, the author is a korean, and he talks about his experience of how korea developed from among the poorest countries in the world in 1960s (when they split), poorer than Zambia, to what it is now.

the untold sacrifices of a generation of people. children leaving school as early as 8-9yrs and going to work in leather factories.

They made enough money through that kind of hectic production, and distributed it enough so everyone has atleast basic necessities.

India lo, you think its possible? already 10% of India has experienced western lifestyle (in real or in movies), and they won't be satisfied for anything less than that.

So what you call a 'decent life' is different for different people in India. For majority of Indians, a 'decent life' is possible with the right distribution of wealth. we need smaller governing units (states), and a government that is focused on achieving it, without any discrimination of caste/religion.

India has embraced western style of governance. That too, not the style US had in the 1930s, but 2000s.

section of Indian youth thinks that India is already a great country. That's why its not possible.

India will miss the geniuses among the poor, who will fade away because of lack of opportunity, while the rest cry on reservations, without focusing on their work.

All these countries are way ahead of India, in feeding their people, educating them, and providing them with healthcare.

first let India achieve that, and then fight whatever wars they want.
