‘సర్దార్ గబ్బర్ సింగ్’తో తీవ్రంగా నిరాశ పరిచిన పవన్ కళ్యాణ్.. ఈసారి ఎక్కువ విరామం తీసుకోకుండా ఏడాది లోపే ‘కాటమరాయుడు’గా వచ్చేశాడు. తమిళ హిట్ మూవీ ‘వీరం’ రీమేక్ గా తెరకెక్కిన ఈ చిత్రానికి ‘గోపాల గోపాల’ ఫేమ్ కిషోర్ కుమార్ పార్థసాని (డాలీ) దర్శకుడు. ప్రారంభోత్సవం జరుపుకున్నపుడు అంతగా ఆసక్తి రేకెత్తించని ఈ చిత్రం... విడుదల సమయానికి మంచి హైప్ తెచ్చుకుంది. భారీ అంచనాల మధ్య ఈ రోజే ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకొచ్చిన ఈ చిత్రం ఆ అంచనాల్ని ఎంతమేరకు అందుకుందో చూద్దాం పదండి.

కథ:

కాటమరాయుడు (పవన్ కళ్యాణ్) రాయలసీమలో ఒక ఊరికి పెద్ద. అతడికి నలుగురు తమ్ముళ్లు. చిన్నతనం నుంచి వాళ్లను కష్టపడి పెంచి పెద్ద చేస్తాడు కాటమరాయుడు. తమ్ముళ్లంటే అతడికి ప్రాణం. తమ్ముళ్లకు అతనంటే ప్రాణం. ఐతే ఎక్కడ అన్యాయం జరిగితే అక్కడ ప్రత్యక్షమై అక్రమార్కుల పని పట్టే కాటమరాయుడికి శత్రువులూ ఎక్కువే. అమ్మాయిలకు ఆమడదూరంలో ఉండే కాటమరాయుడికి అవంతి (శ్రుతి హాసన్)తో ముడిపెడతారు అతడి తమ్ముళ్లు. రాయుడి తమ్ముళ్లు చెప్పిన అబద్ధాల్ని నమ్మి.. మరికొన్ని కారణాలతో అతణ్ని ప్రేమిస్తుంది అవంతి. రాయుడు కూడా ఆమెను ప్రేమిస్తాడు. కానీ అవంతి అనుకున్నట్లుగా కాటమరాయుడు శాంతి కామకుడేమీ కాదని తనకు తెలుస్తుంది. అప్పుడు ఆమె ఏం చేసింది.. అవంతి కోసం కాటమరాయుడు మారాడా.. చివరికి వీళ్లిద్దరూ ఒక్కటయ్యారా లేదా అన్నది మిగతా కథ.

కథనం - విశ్లేషణ:

కాటమరాయుడు తన ప్రేయసి ఇంట్లో ఉంటాడపుడు. ఆ ఊరికి అతను కొత్త. తనకు కాబోయే మావయ్యను ఓ రౌడీ గ్యాంగ్ బెదిరిస్తుంటే.. తాను వెళ్లి మాట్లాడి సమస్యను పరిష్కరించుకుని వస్తానంటాడు రాయుడు. అక్కడికెళ్లాక పెద్ద రౌడీ రాయుడిని చూసి తేలిగ్గా మాట్లాడతాడు. అంతలో ఆ రౌడీ తండ్రి ఫోన్ చేస్తాడు. పనయ్యిందా అంటే.. ఎవడో కాటమరాయుడు అని వచ్చాడు అంటాడు. అంతే.. అవతల వ్యక్తికి చెమటలు పట్టేస్తాయి. కాటమరాయుడా.. ఐతే వెంటనే కాళ్లు పట్టుకోమంటాడు. అప్పటిదాకా విర్రవీగిన ఆ రౌడీ.. వణికిపోయి కాళ్లు పట్టేసుకుంటాడు. రెండు నిమిషాల్లో రౌడీ తండ్రి కూడా అక్కడ వాలిపోయి తన కొడుకును వదిలేయమని రాయుడిని వేడుకుంటాడు.

రెండు మూడు దశాబ్దాల నుంచి చూస్తున్నాం ఇలాంటి సీన్స్. కాకపోతే హీరోయిజాన్ని ఎలివేట్ చేసే ఇలాంటి సన్నివేశాలు ఎన్నిసార్లు చూసినా మాస్ జనాలు ఊగిపోతారు. అందులోనూ పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ ను ఇలాంటి సీన్లో చూస్తే అతడి అభిమానుల ఉత్సాహం ఎలా ఉంటుందో చెప్పేదేముంది? ‘కాటమరాయుడు’ సినిమా ఎలా సాగుతుందో చెప్పడానికి ఈ సీన్ ఒక ఉదాహరణ. పవన్ మాస్ ఇమేజ్ ను వాడుకుని.. అభిమానుల్ని.. మాస్ ప్రేక్షకుల్ని అలరించడానికి చేసిన ప్రయత్నమే ‘కాటమరాయుడు’. ఇది రొటీన్ గా.. ఒక ఫార్ములా ప్రకారం సాగిపోయే మాస్ మసాలా కమర్షియల్ ఎంటర్టైనర్. కథాకథనాల్లో ఏమాత్రం కొత్తదనం కనిపించదు. వైవిధ్యం కోరుకుంటే నిరాశ తప్పదు. మాస్ క్యారెక్టర్లో పవన్ హీరోయిజాన్ని ఎంజాయ్ చేయగలిగితే ‘కాటమరాయుడు’ ఓకే అనిపిస్తుంది.

కథాకథనాల పరంగా ‘కాటమరాయుడు’ చాలా పాతగా అనిపిస్తుంది కానీ.. పవన్ ఇలాంటి కథలో.. ఇలాంటి క్యారెక్టర్లో.. ఇలాంటి అవతారంలో కనిపించడమే ఇందులో కొత్దదనం. తొలిసారి పూర్తి స్థాయి గ్రామీణ కథలో నటించిన పవన్.. పంచెకట్టు.. ఖద్దరు చొక్కాల్లో.. మెలితిరిగిన మీసంతో సరికొత్త అవతారంలో దర్శనమిచ్చాడు. పవన్ నటన.. హావభావాలు కూడా కొంచెం భిన్నంగానే ఉంటాయి. తనదైన శైలిలో హీరోయిజం పండిస్తూ.. యాక్షన్ సన్నివేశాల్లో అదరగొడుతూ.. రొమాంటిక్ సీన్స్ లో కూడా మెప్పిస్తూ.. తన అభిమానుల్ని అలరిస్తూ సాగిపోతాడు పవన్. కాబట్టి పవన్ తో కనెక్టయితే ‘కాటమరాయుడు’తో కూడా జనాలు కనెక్టవుతారు. అలా కాకుండా కథాకథనాల మీదే ఫోకస్ పెడితే మాత్రం ఇది నిరాశ పరిచే చిత్రమే.

‘వీరం’ ఒరిజినల్ చూసిన వాళ్లకు అసలు ఏమంత ప్రత్యేకత ఉందని దీన్ని పవన్ రీమేక్ చేయాలనుకున్నాడన్న సందేహం కలిగి ఉండొచ్చు. మామూలుగా తమిళ సినిమాలు తెలుగుతో పోలిస్తే కొంచెం అడ్వాన్స్డ్ గా ఉంటాయి. కానీ తెలుగులో కూడా ఔట్ డేట్ అయిపోయిన ఫార్ములా కథతో ‘వీరం’ చేశాడు అజిత్. ఇప్పుడు ఆ కథనే తెలుగులోకి తెచ్చారు. తెలుగులో చాలా మార్పులు చేసేసినట్లు చెప్పుకున్నారు కానీ.. అంత పెద్ద మార్పులేమీ కనిపించవు. కొత్తగా కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలు కలిశాయి కానీ.. మూల కథ ఏమీ మారలేదు. తమిళంలో లాగే తెలుగులోనూ రొటీన్ గా సాగిపోతుంది ‘కాటమరాయుడు’. కథ పరంగా ఏమంత ఎగ్జైట్మెంట్ కలిగించే అంశాలేమీ లేవు ఇందులో. రాయలసీమ నేపథ్యం.. ఒక ఊరి పెద్ద.. ఎవరైనా అన్యాయంగా ప్రవర్తిస్తే తాటతీస్తాడు. అమ్మాయిలంటే అస్సలు పడదు. అలాంటి వాడు ప్రేమలో పడతాడు. హీరోయిన్.. ఆమె కుటుంబం కోసం మారే ప్రయత్నం చేస్తాడు.. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో ఒక సంఘర్షణ.. శత్రువులతో పోరు.. చివరికి కథ సుఖాంతం.. ఇలా ఒక కమర్షియల్ ఫార్మాట్లో సాగుతుంది ఈ కథ.

హీరోయిజం బాగా ఎలివేట్ అయ్యే ఆరంభ సన్నివేశంతోనే ‘కాటమరాయుడు’ ఎలా ఉంటుందన్న ఐడియా ప్రేక్షకులకు వచ్చేస్తుంది. పవన్ పాత్రతో ఎంటర్టైన్ చేయడమే లక్ష్యంగా సినిమా నడుస్తుంది. ఫైట్.. పాట అయ్యాక రొమాంటిక్ ట్రాక్ తో ప్రథమార్ధాన్ని నడిపించారు. పవన్-శ్రుతి మధ్య వచ్చే సన్నివేశాలు ప్రథమార్ధానికి ప్రధాన ఆకర్షణ. సినిమా మొత్తంలో మంచి ఫీలింగ్ కలిగించేవి ఈ సీన్సే. పవన్ శ్రుతికి ప్రపోజ్ చేసే సీన్ బాగా ఎంటర్టైన్ చేస్తుంది. రెండు ఫైట్లు.. మూడు పాటలు.. కొంచెం కామెడీ.. కొంచెం రొమాన్స్.. ఇలా ప్రథమార్ధం వరకు బాగానే నడిచిపోతుంది. ఐతే ద్వితీయార్ధం మాత్రం నిరాశ పరుస్తుంది. రొమాన్స్.. కామెడీ పాళ్లు తగ్గిపోవడం.. ప్రధానంగా యాక్షన్ మీదే కథ నడవడం.. కొన్ని అనవసర సన్నివేశాలు.. సాగతీత వల్ల ద్వితీయార్దం భారంగా గడుస్తుంది. ఫస్టాఫ్ లో వచ్చిన విలన్లు సరిపోరని.. ఇంకో పెద్ద విలన్ని తీసుకొచ్చారు. ఆ పాత్రకు సంబంధించిన ఎపిపోడ్ వల్ల సినిమా లెంగ్త్ పెరిగింది. సినిమాను ముగించిన తీరు కూడా మామూలుగా ఉంటుంది. ద్వితీయార్ధం సినిమాపై అప్పటిదాకా ఉన్న ఇంప్రెషన్ ను కొంచెం తగ్గిస్తుంది. ఓవరాల్ గా ‘కాటమరాయుడు’ ఓకే అనిపించే మాస్ మసాలా ఎంటర్టైనర్.

నటీనటులు:

‘కాటమరాయుడు’లో పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ ది వన్ మ్యాన్ షో. తన అభిమానుల్ని పూర్తి స్థాయిలో అలరించాడు పవన్. అతడి ఆహార్యం చాలా బాగుంది. లుక్.. గెటప్ పరంగా కెరీర్ మొత్తంలో వన్ ఆఫ్ ద బెస్ట్ ‘కాటమరాయుడు’ క్యారెక్టర్ అని చెప్పుకోవచ్చు. యాక్షన్ ఎపిసోడ్లలో.. హీరోయిన్ తో రొమాన్స్ విషయంలో టిపికల్ పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ అభిమానుల్ని ఆకట్టుకుంటాడు. క్లైమాక్స్ లో ఎమోషన్ కూడా బాగానే పండించాడు పవన్. శ్రుతి హాసన్ ఓకే. కీలకమైన పాత్రే కానీ.. పెర్ఫామెన్స్ కు అంత స్కోప్ ఏమీ లేదు. ఆమె గ్లామర్ పరంగా కనువిందు చేసింది. ఐతే శ్రుతి ఫిజిక్ విషయంలో కొంచెం జాగ్రత్త పడాల్సిన అవసరముందనిపిస్తుంది. కొంచెం షేపవుట్ అవుతున్న సంగతి గమనించవచ్చు. పవన్ తమ్ముళ్లుగా నటించిన వాళ్లలో అజయ్ కు ఎక్కువ మార్కులు పడతాయి. శివబాలాజీ.. కృష్ణచైతన్య.. కమల్ కామరాజు ఓకే అనిపిస్తారు. ఆలీ బాగానే ఎంటర్టైన్ చేశాడు. నాజర్ కు ఇలాంటి పాత్ర మామూలే. విలన్ తరుణ్ అరోరాది మామూలు క్యారెక్టరే. ప్రదీప్ రావత్ కూడా అంతే. రావు రమేష్ కొంచెం డిఫరెంటుగా ట్రై చేశాడు కానీ.. నటన మరీ అతిగా అనిపిస్తుంది. అతడి క్యారెక్టర్ ఫన్నీగా ఉంటుంది. పృథ్వీ పెద్దగా చేసిందేమీ లేదు.

సాంకేతికవర్గం:

అనూప్ రూబెన్స్ సంగీతం సోసోగా అనిపిస్తుంది. ఇలాంటి మాస్ మసాలా సినిమాకు తగ్గట్లుగా అతడి సంగీతం లేదు. మిర్రా మిర్రా మీసం మినహా పాటల్లో అంత ఊపు లేదు. పాటలు తీసిపడేయదగ్గట్లు లేవు కానీ.. ఈ సినిమాకు తగ్గట్లుగా అయితే లేవు. నేపథ్య సంగీతం కూడా అలాగే అనిపిస్తుంది. ప్రసాద్ మూరెళ్ల ఛాయాగ్రహణం బాగుంది. విజువల్స్ ఆద్యంతం ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. నిర్మాణ విలువలు ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో లేవు. ట్రైన్ ఫైట్లో వీఎఫెక్స్ తేలిపోయాయి. మిర్రా మిర్రా మీసం పాటను బాగానే తీశారు కానీ.. మిగతా పాటల విషయంలో రాజీ పడ్డట్లు కనిపిస్తుంది. చాలా హడావుడిగా లాగించేసినట్లు అనిపిస్తుంది. ఇక దర్శకుడు డాలీ.. తన రచయితల బృందంతో కలిసి ‘వీరం’ను పవన్ ఇమేజ్ కు తగ్గట్లుగా బాగానే తీర్చిదిద్దాడు. హీరోయిజం ఎలివేట్ చేసిన తీరు.. యాక్షన్ ఎపిసోడ్లలో డాలీ తన పనితనం చూపించాడు. డైలాగులు బాగా కుదిరాయి. ‘‘చావుకే నేనంటే భయం.. నేను ఎవరి దగ్గరికి వెళ్లమంటే వాళ్ల దగ్గరికి వెళ్తుంది’’ లాంటి డైలాగులు ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. ఇది రీమేక్ కాబట్టి కథాకథనాలు రొటీన్ ఉన్నాయని డాలీని నిందించలేం. చాలా వరకు ఒరిజినల్ ను ఫాలో అయినప్పటికీ పవన్ ఇమేజ్ ను సరిగ్గా వాడుకుని.. అభిమానుల్ని అలరించేలా ‘కాటమరాయుడు’ను తీర్చిదిద్దే ప్రయత్నం చేశాడు డాలీ.

Whenever there is a Pawan Kalyan film coming up, there is a massive buzz all over. After the debacle of Sardaar, Pawan Kalyan is now back with Katamarayudu which has hit the screens all over today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:-

Rayudu(Pawan Kalyan) and his four brothers live a happy life in their village. A strict and serious Rayudu does not marry as he feels that if a girl enters his family, there would be problems between him and his brothers.

On the other hand, all his four brothers are in love and want to get married soon. Knowing that in order for them to get married, they will have to convince Rayudu to marry first as he is the elder one. All of them get together, and make a plan and contact Avanti(Shruthi Haasan) to somehow woo their brother.

When things seem to be going fine, Shruthi Haasan’s family is suddenly targeted by Bhanu(Tarun Arora). Who is this Bhanu? What relation does he have to do with Avanti’s family? How does Rayudu save everyone? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:-

Pawan Kalyan is undoubtedly the biggest attraction of Katamarayudu. He perfectly suits the elder brother’s character and carries the entire film on his shoulders. Right from Pawan’s traditional look to his classy dialogues, the star hero does full justice and impresses in an author backed role.

 

Shruthi Haasan is perfectly cast as Pawan’s love interest and all her romantic scenes with him are hugely entertaining. The first half has some decent comedy, romance and slick action sequences making the proceedings quite interesting.

Pawan’s chemistry with all his brothers is also very good. Shiva Balaji and others do their supporting roles quite well. Ali is good with his comedy during the first half.

Minus Points:-

The interval bang is just about okay and does not have much depth. The story of the film is quite routine and has some predictable scenes throughout the film. Things get disappointing during the second half as too many fights and dull emotions disappoint things a bit.

Anup Ruben’s music is the biggest disappointment for the film as none of his songs impress one bit and even come as speed breakers in the second half. There are not many twists during the second half as the film becomes quite slow during this time.

In spite of doing a superb job, Rao Ramesh’s role has been wasted in the film. The second half has no proper conflict of interest between the hero and villain as Tarun Arora looks pretty weak in front of Pawan’s star status.

Technical Aspects:-

Production values of the film are pretty good as Sharad Marar has spent decent money which shows on screen. The camerawork is top notch as the village visuals and Pawan Kalyan are showcased supremely well. Editing is below average as at least two fights in the second half could have been trimmed down. Dialogues are good and suit Pawan’s body language quite well.

Coming to the director Dolly, he has done a decent job with the film. After filling the first half with some very entertaining moments, he disappoints during the second half. His screenplay takes a beating during this time as the proceedings are filled with only stylish action sequences. Had he brought a bit more depth in the family emotions, things would have been even better.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Katamarayudu is a treat for all Pawan Kalyan fans. The star hero’s emotional performance, traditional look and superb fun during the first half are huge assets for the film. Katamarayudu is bound to do well among the masses but we need to see how film does in the overseas. If you ignore the routine story line and a slightly dull second half, Katamarayudu is one film which ends up as a decent watch this summer.

Pawan Kalyan's last movie Sardaar Gabbar Singh was a disappointment. Almost a year after it Pawan's next film Katamarayudu has hit the screens. It is a remake of Tamil hit Veeram starring Ajith Kumar. Directed by Gopala Gopala fame Kishore Kumar Pardasani, the film is a regular mass entertainer where the protagonist plays a larger than the life character.

What is it about?

Katamarayudu (Pawan Kalyan) hates women for reasons best known to him. He has four brothers and three of them are already in love. But they hide it from Katamarayudu as he doesn't like it. They want to make their brother fall in love so that they could happily marry their girlfriends. Avanti (Shruti) a classical dancer and singer impresses Katamarayudu. Slowly Katamarayudu gets attracted to her, but she couldn't accept him as he resort to violence for the sake of people. Katamarayudu goes to her house to convince Avanthi and her parents, but comes to know that their family is in danger because of Bhanu (Tarun Arora).

Performances:

Pawan Kalyan looks different from usual in Rayudu getup. His styling suits the character and his energetic portrayal of the character keeps us engaged. His performance in scenes with Shruti Haasan is the highlight of the film. Shruti Haasan is fine as the female lead. Siva Balaji, Ajay, Kamal Kamaraju and Chaitanya Krishna played the brothers characters and Ajay is impressive among them. Ali is okay and Rao Ramesh impresses with his getup, accent and hook line 'Kaani kaani kaani'. Villain characterization is pretty weak and Tarun Arora couldn't do much about it.

Technicalities:

Kishore Kumar Pardasani is a decent director who can present the content on hand in an effective way. Katamarayudu is pretty ordinary on the script front and director is not so efficient in making commercial potboilers. He did his best to keep things on track with whatever that is available on paper, but sadly that wasn't enough to make it a watchable film.

Music by Anup Rubens is a big failure. Bad sound track and weak background score hampered the prospects of the film. Action choreography is good. Only the action episodes stand highlight in it. Cinematography is good and editing is adequate. Production values are just about alright.

Analysis:

A big ticket star studded film should be exciting and give enough viewing pleasure from the word go. When the film is entertaining with heroism elevating scenes and good comedy, audience doesn't bother much about the novelty that the story offers. Katamarayudu failed miserably in terms of providing excitement and entertainment. One would expect powerful elevation scenes going by the title and hero's characterization. But the director never focuses on showing the powerful side of the protagonist.

Except for flexing muscles at every given opportunity there isn't one scene that pumps the adrenaline. Romance between Pawan and Shruti looks forced and dated. There is no proper reason for Katamarayudu to fall for Avanthi. Every scene in the movie looks like it is straight out of a nineties rural mass entertainer. Despite the lack of originality, first half of the film moves at a smooth pace without bothering much. Fight before the interval has come out well if you can excuse the badly done VFX.

Post interval, it is all downhill as the movie treads the beaten to death path of hero turning savior for the family in trouble. Pre climax and climax sequences are pretty bad and give us a feeling that the makers were in a rush to conclude things. Apart from Pawan Kalyan's screen presence and his timing in few scenes, there is not much to take home in the film. Katamarayudu has little to offer for other sections of audience except for Pawan fans. Pawan's star power will ensure openings, but it will need a miracle to go the distance at the box office.

Verdict: Boring Rayudu.

Whenever there is a Pawan Kalyan film coming up, there is a massive buzz all over. After the debacle of Sardaar, Pawan Kalyan is now back with Katamarayudu which has hit the screens all over today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:-

Rayudu(Pawan Kalyan) and his four brothers live a happy life in their village. A strict and serious Rayudu does not marry as he feels that if a girl enters his family, there would be problems between him and his brothers.

On the other hand, all his four brothers are in love and want to get married soon. Knowing that in order for them to get married, they will have to convince Rayudu to marry first as he is the elder one. All of them get together, and make a plan and contact Avanti(Shruthi Haasan) to somehow woo their brother.

When things seem to be going fine, Shruthi Haasan’s family is suddenly targeted by Bhanu(Tarun Arora). Who is this Bhanu? What relation does he have to do with Avanti’s family? How does Rayudu save everyone? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:-

Pawan Kalyan is undoubtedly the biggest attraction of Katamarayudu. He perfectly suits the elder brother’s character and carries the entire film on his shoulders. Right from Pawan’s traditional look to his classy dialogues, the star hero does full justice and impresses in an author backed role.

 

Shruthi Haasan is perfectly cast as Pawan’s love interest and all her romantic scenes with him are hugely entertaining. The first half has some decent comedy, romance and slick action sequences making the proceedings quite interesting.

Pawan’s chemistry with all his brothers is also very good. Shiva Balaji and others do their supporting roles quite well. Ali is good with his comedy during the first half.

Minus Points:-

The interval bang is just about okay and does not have much depth. The story of the film is quite routine and has some predictable scenes throughout the film. Things get disappointing during the second half as too many fights and dull emotions disappoint things a bit.

Anup Ruben’s music is the biggest disappointment for the film as none of his songs impress one bit and even come as speed breakers in the second half. There are not many twists during the second half as the film becomes quite slow during this time.

In spite of doing a superb job, Rao Ramesh’s role has been wasted in the film. The second half has no proper conflict of interest between the hero and villain as Tarun Arora looks pretty weak in front of Pawan’s star status.

Technical Aspects:-

Production values of the film are pretty good as Sharad Marar has spent decent money which shows on screen. The camerawork is top notch as the village visuals and Pawan Kalyan are showcased supremely well. Editing is below average as at least two fights in the second half could have been trimmed down. Dialogues are good and suit Pawan’s body language quite well.

Coming to the director Dolly, he has done a decent job with the film. After filling the first half with some very entertaining moments, he disappoints during the second half. His screenplay takes a beating during this time as the proceedings are filled with only stylish action sequences. Had he brought a bit more depth in the family emotions, things would have been even better.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Katamarayudu is a treat for all Pawan Kalyan fans. The star hero’s emotional performance, traditional look and superb fun during the first half are huge assets for the film. Katamarayudu is bound to do well among the masses but we need to see how film does in the overseas. If you ignore the routine story line and a slightly dull second half, Katamarayudu is one film which ends up as a decent watch this summer.

Brahmotsavam is Mahesh Babu’s biggest release till date and has been waited with beated breadth all over. Directed by Srikanth Addala and produced by PVP Cinema, this film has released all over amidst huge fan fare and hungama. Let’s see whether it lives up to its expectations or not

Story:-

The story of Brahmotsavam is quite simple and is based on Satyaraj and his joint family. But one among the family, Rao Ramesh is always unhappy with the way he is always under the shadow of Satyaraj. To get even more prominence in the family, he decides to get his daughter(Pranitha) married to Mahesh Babu who is Satyaraj’s son.

Twist in the tale arises when Rao Ramesh finds out that Mahesh is already in love with Kajal. He bursts out with anger and confronts Satyaraj. An unexpected incident takes place because of this issue and disrupts the entire family. Rest of the story is as to how Mahesh takes things in hand and gets his family back on track and where does Samantha feature in all this set up.

Plus Points:-

Mahesh Babu is undoubtedly the star attraction of the film. He looks like a dream and mesmerises with his performance. He gels nicely amidst the huge star cast and is especially good during the emotional scenes. Rao Ramesh is another attraction and gets a meaty role. His mannerisms, attitude suits his character well and he does a brilliant job.

 

Jayasudha and Revathi are good in their respective roles. Samantha is superb in her chirpy role and her chemistry with Mahesh is just adorable. Kajal looks and plays her NRI role supremely well and is the main stay of the first half. All her romantic scenes with Mahesh have been designed supremely well.

Satyaraj is apt and does a superb job. All his scenes with Mahesh Babu and a particular scene featuring him and baby Akshara moves you emotionally. As in every Srikanth Addala film, Brahmotsavam too has some memorable family emotions. The various relationships and the way they have been set admist the modern day thinking is wonderful.

First half of the film is pretty good and has some very feel good moments. Interval bang is superb and has been executed quite well. Vennela Kishore does a good job in his role and brings good laughs in the second half.

Minus Points:-

As in every Srikanth Addala film, story takes a severe beating and the same happens with Brahmostavam too. The proceedings are quite predictable right from the word go and do not have much twists or turns.

Pace of the film is a bit slow and the regular mass audience will find it quite hard without the basic fan moments. After a very interesting first half, the proceedings during the second half take a slight beating. The film becomes a travel movie and wanders places.

Even though the concept of finding our roots is good, the way it has been conceived lacks conviction in many places. Also, Samantha’s character lacks clarity. The way she is introduced into the plot is also not convincing
