Vijayawada Officially a Metropolitan city now - GO issued

Vijayawada so far is second largest urban agglomeration in Andhra Pradesh. From today Vijayawada is declared as metropolitan area officially though government of AP GO MS 104 23/03/2017. This metropolitan area covers existing divisions of Vijayawada and 19 surrounding municipalities and villages thus making second largest city both in terms of area and population. This GO will be ratified by president of India shortly. Bit surprised that Mangalagiri and Ibrahimpatnam are left out from the metropolitan area though they were part of its urban agglomeration area till now. Understandably these two area will go into the limits of Amaravati.
