Dalits are provided reservation because its their right. It doesn't matter if their fathers,grandfathers are IAS officers, they still have the right to avail reservation.

why, you ask? Because 

1. if you leave it to 'merit' (which in India is batti kotti exam lo 99% techukovatam or uncle, pakkinti thatha recommendation tho job kottadam), public institutions will be full of upper caste people. It still is, in several institutions inspite of reservations.

2. Dalits own the country as much as anyone, and should have a say in its affairs. It can happen when they are provided the seat at the governance table. means there should be as many dalit officers as there are dalit people (proportionally). 

3. The day when general quota and reservation quota cutoffs are the same, reservation will have acheived its aim. btw, its aim is not to give alms, but to provide proportional representation, as is their right.

Ofcourse, there are better ways than reservation to try to achieve this parity. But they can happen only if you start treating dalits like regular people. You - means not just you. it includes the people around you. since you can't stop people around you from behaving the way they want to, it can only be left to the govt to force that parity.

Too bad you are at the wrong end of the reservation stick. Life is not fair. You probably don't deserve everything that you dreamed of. Not until others also get a little bit of what they dreamed of.

Finally, if you keep arguing against reservations like this (i.e. without using your brain), you may be successful in forcing the current BJP govt to revoke it or modify it to - say, economic criteria (which is an awful idea, btw). But it won't achieve the result that you want. Anyway, keep trying to do what you have to do. all the best.
