inkosari chaduvu.. xyz prepared his resume

He needs to have documented proof to prove that. A court of law won't accept a "he said, she said" rhetoric as proof. The proof should be documented in the form of handwritten notice, email or in these days voice recording etc.

That's why it's imperative to maintain these records via email as much as possible.

Since when clients have been demanding compensation for poor work of contractor? Is this even possible?

They can fire a guy but they cannot prove that the work done is poor unless the SOW has every deliverable and signed by all parties. SOW will only have requirements but never has deliverable s unless it is fixed bid full project. Even if it is full project, it is vendor's responsibility to handle the situation. Normally, vendors would do back ground check on the temp candidate for huge projects.

All I see is some game by XYZ firm to just get away from paying the few months salary to the guy.

Also one more thing to be noted here is that this notice has been sent 15 months after joining the project. Normally the client would be able to ascertain the contractor's work ethic and ability to deliver on a project in 2 weeks time, however the fact that they have let him continue working on the project for 15 months before letting him go on performance grounds seems to speak more against them than the candidate.

As said earlier, this case has no merit. The XYZ company needs to be taken to the attention of DOL, and let them take over from there.
