Sharing my experience from April 2015: Yellow stone park is like a Chemistry lab

Entire park was not open in April, but by may end all roads will be opened for you and can cover more places in the park.

We stayed in a 5 bed room cabin at West Yellowstone city/town (that's outside the park and 20 mins drive to park entrance) in Montana, that's the west entrance of the park.

That's a private cabin and pretty good place to stay and have fun with friends, that's the only cabin in the surroundings and you can have a world of your own. most of the cabins outside the park are pretty much isolated and far away from each other, I liked that.

And coming to the places to see, every inch of the park is a scenery, you will see lots of geysers every where and be careful while walking and they also smell bad (old faithful geyser is a good one, it erupts every 30 mins to 60 mins), grand canyon of Yellowstone, waterfalls(upper falls, there is an artist point there and u can get good pictures, very scenic), gibbon falls, mammoth hot springs, Norris geyser basin, tower falls, boiling river ...... (u can google further)

Ghats roads, Bisons(furry buffalo) will be roaming every where and watch for them while driving, they will block the roads and don't panic them, you will see lots of bears and elks posing for pictures and some times bears will chase you :)

If you have time get some tents and do camping in the camp sites over night.

My suggestion: Since yours is a four day trip, plan according and don't waste time, there is a lot to cover in the park and the park gets crowded from may till October and we may not go there again and again so try to cover the most.

The place where we stayed had less grocery stores so we took most of the raw items with us and cooked in the cabin and also packed food to take with us into the park like (semiya upma, pulihora, chicken) and come back to the cabin in the evening, cook, drink, fireplace... FUN TRIP

South entrance love vellu, you will pass through Grand Teton national park, it is like alps of america, kashmir valley. Yellowstone is different all geisers etc Grand Teton is different all nature
