I think they will get some small commission from some product owners which are advertised in their app. To attract the users they are also giving cashback for usual grocery items like milk, eggs , bread etc. They are growing by increasing their user base. Probably they are still investing money on this. 

Also they will mine the data they received and generate consumer behavior reports which are helpful to manufacturers

there are two categories.

1. any brand items or any item receipts for which they will give $0.25 to $0.50 per receipt. 

2. Selected brand items from selected stores. usually more cashback. like $1 to $15 per item.
