I don't agree to your final exam example bro... final exam is as simple as how much you have learned in the academic year and the result is directly proportional to your work and dedication the whole year.. In cricket, final is just another match with more pressure, as any match, several things contribute to win or loss, it could be overconfidence, lack of confidence, luck or small miscalculations..

I would also say "get life seasonal critics"..
