Sedition charges against them is too much. They should have given them some counseling and probably checked if they were indeed doing things against India personally, but this is taking the concept of nationalism too far. 

I don't support these people's actions either, parading and cheering for a country that's spreading terror within your own nation. But even then, sedition charges are reserved usually for stuff that are way more serious than this.

Overt nationalism is borderline fascism. This kind of reaction to a bunch of kids sloganeering doesn't address the issue, in fact worsens it. A free society with absolute free speech is necessary to head in a progressive direction.

do you know why civil unrest normally occurs? do you think they occur organically because a bunch of people say anti nationalist stuff?

no man. They occur when one group tries to provoke another into a violent response. Check every riot in the country. It was triggered mostly by Hindutvavaadis, who are now in power in India.

If it was India, police will side with the residents and extract a commission from the organizers.

then Indians who live in such decent countries will turn around and want India to remain perennially indecent even to its own citizens. book them for sedition, etc.

like even educated people aren't trying to patch things up. everybody wants to blow up minorities the first chance theyget.

But, things are different with in India, mixed feelings and people get hurt easily, we should consider this point and we should be careful while putting our toungue to work. Free speech doesn't mean we have to hurt other's feeling, there is a border line for free speech too.
