Does anyone else do this, or has this issue where you open multiple tabs instead of closing one before opening the other? 

Lol me 2 , I'll open at least 20-30 tabs .... But I use this plugin called 'the great suspenender' which suspends all the unused tabs until I open them again , this will stop the browser from hogging the resources  .... Must have for someone like us
