It depends on person to person. Not everyone comes to do Phd. At least half of the people I know did phd because they didn't get job after MS.

Material science is a tricky prospect. Just interest okate kadu.He needs to be able to market himself and build industry connections then he'd be able to get a job. Or else entho mandini chusanu who are still struggling after doing masters in nanotech.
