Centre approves 2nd Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in AP

The ministry of electronics and information and technology has given the approval to set up a Greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) at Vikruthamala village in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. The EMC will be developed over 501.40 acres at a cost of Rs. 339.80 crore. The proposed EMC is expected to generate nearly 4 lakh direct and indirect jobs by 2020. The project is strategically located in the State bordering Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, which together account for major share of electronic production in the country.

The Centre has approved the State’s proposal under the EMC scheme. The Centre will support about one-third of the project cost. The rest of the fund has to be arranged by the State government. The amount is used to create infrastructure for setting up the electronic components manufacturing units. So, the State will be getting a grant-in-aid of Rs. 111.42 crore towards the project.

Range of products

The new cluster caters to the needs of electronic products manufacturing, electronic component manufacturing and semi-conductor designing companies. Already another EMC, which is developed by mobile company Celkon Impex Pvt. Ltd near Renigunta in Chittoor district is functioning.

Also, five more proposals relating to the EMC are still pending with the Centre. Of which, two will come up in Anantapur, one each in Visakhapatnam, Kakinada and Chittoor if the Centre clears these proposals.

ఎలక్ట్రానిక్స్‌ రంగంలో 2020 నాటికి రాష్ట్రంలో రూ.30వేల కోట్లకుపైగా పెట్టుబడులు ఆకర్షించి, 4లక్షల ఉద్యోగాలు కల్పించాలనేది ప్రభుత్వ లక్ష్యం. అందుకు అనుగుణంగా చిత్తూరు జిల్లాను ఎలక్ట్రానిక్స్‌ కేంద్రంగా అభివృద్ధి చేయడానికి ప్రణాళికాయుతంగా ముందుకు వెళుతోంది. ఇందులో భాగంగా తిరుపతికి సమీపంలో రెండో ఎలక్ట్రానిక్స్‌ హార్డ్‌వేర్‌ తయారీ క్లస్టర్‌ (ఈఎంసీ)కి ఈ నెలాఖరులోపు భూమి పూజ చేయడానికి సన్నాహాలు జరుగుతున్నాయి.

రేణిగుంట విమానాశ్రయానికి సమీపంలో వికృతమాల వద్ద 500 ఎకరాల్లో ‘ఎలక్ట్రానిక్స్‌ హార్డ్‌వేర్‌ తయారీ క్లస్టర్‌’ను ఇప్పటికే ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. అక్కడ పలు సెల్‌ఫోన్‌ కంపెనీలు పెట్టుబడులు పెడుతున్నాయి. మొదటి కేంద్రం (క్లస్టర్‌) దాదాపుగా నిండిపోతుండటంతో ఆ కేంద్రానికి పక్కనే రెండో ఎలక్ట్రానిక్స్‌ కేంద్రం (ఈఎంసీ2) ఏర్పాటు చేస్తున్నారు. దీనికి కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం అనుమతిచ్చి తన వాటా నిధులను విడుదల చేసింది.

ఈఎంసీ2 ఏర్పాటు కోసం రేణిగుంట వద్ద ఏపీఐఐసీ 501.40 ఎకరాలను గుర్తించింది. ఇక్కడ 362.91 ఎకరాల్లో కంపెనీలు ఏర్పాటవుతాయి. మిగిలిన స్థలాన్ని మౌలికసదుపాయాల పరంగా అభివృద్ధి చేస్తారు. 19.68 ఎకరాల విస్తీర్ణంలో పచ్చగా తీర్చిదిద్దుతారు. ఈ కేంద్రం అభివృద్ధి కోసం రూ.230.59 కోట్లు అవసరమని ఏపీఐఐసీ ప్రతిపాదించింది. డిసెంబరులోపు ఇక్కడ కంపెనీలు వచ్చేలా చూడాలనేది లక్ష్యం. ఇప్పటికే 35 కంపెనీలు ఈఎంసీ2లో పెట్టుబడులు పెట్టడానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నాయి. ఇందులో డిక్సన్‌, దాసన్‌ లాంటి పెద్ద సంస్థలు ఉన్నాయి. సెల్‌ఫోన్‌ బ్యాటరీలు, సెల్‌ఫోన్‌ కెమెరాలు తయారు చేసే మరో రెండు పెద్ద కంపెనీలు కూడా ఈ జాబితాలో ఉన్నాయి.
