KTR to lay foundation for Balanagar flyover on Aug 21

Once the construction of flyover is completed, it will facilitate in smooth flow of traffic passing from Bowenpally to Kukatpally.

Hyderabad: Construction of much awaited flyover at Balanagar will commence with Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao scheduled to lay foundation for the works on Monday.

The project being taken up by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has a budget of Rs.25 crore already released to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for land acquisition.

The Municipal Corporation has initiated land acquisition and balance amounts will be released as and when the GHMC requires, said a senior official from HMDA.

There has been a demand for construction of a flyover at Balanagar covering Narsapur crossroads and Fatehnagar junction since long. The area, which has a host of industrials units and commercial establishments is a high traffic zone.

Once the construction of flyover is completed, it will facilitate in smooth flow of traffic passing from Bowenpally to Kukatpally ‘Y’ junction. The six-lane flyover will have a future provision of two-lane one-way loop ramps on either approaches of the structure for right turning traffic from flyover.

One loop would be for Jeedimetla bound traffic and the other for Fatehnagar end traffic.

In June early this year, the HMDA had floated tenders for constructing the flyover and two companies BSCPL Infrastructure Limited and M. Venkat Rao Infra Projects Private Limited submitted their bids. Of these, BSCPL Infrastructure Limited had quoted the lowest bid, he added.
