Trump pardons Sheriff Arpaio

President Trump on Friday pardoned Joe Arpaio, the former Arizona sheriff whose aggressive efforts to hunt down and detain undocumented immigrants made him a national symbol of the divisive politics of immigration and earned him a criminal contempt conviction.

In a two-paragraph statement, the White House said that Mr. Arpaio gave “years of admirable service to our nation” and called him a “worthy candidate for a presidential pardon.”

Mr. Trump called Mr. Arpaio “an American patriot” in a tweet later Friday. “He kept Arizona safe!” the president said.

I lived in Arizona during Sheriff Arpaio's tenure back in 2006-2008. If anyone lived there around that time, you are aware of the issues that surrounded his administration and the lawsuits that were brought against him.

Bad days of immigrants

It's beyond that, although you are right.

Joe Arpaio has been found to violate a court order and openly defy the orders, which makes him a convict in judiciary's eyes. And how he's been pardoned, this is the first time a convict has received a pardon after a President took office this fast. Obama and Bush both took one year before granting their first Presidential pardon, while Clinton took 2 years.

Just when you thought the media is focused on Harvey instead of their daily dose of DT Bashing, Man they will go wild now.

P.S: I am in no way shape or form supporting what he did. Joe doesn't deserve the pardon.

The timing does raise eyebrows. We are possibly going to witness the worst hurricane since Katrina, and the president silently pardons a felon perhaps trying to brush this under the rubble of news we would expect to come from Harvey tomorrow.
