Now coming to being an entrepreneur on H1B, what people fail to understand is that even the most successful entrepreneurs that you see today are ones that started out with numerous failures, read about Elon Musk himself. You can take such a risk if you have a permanent residency in the nation where you are trying to do that, since you can go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong. 90% all startups invariably fail, a truly successful entrepreneur isn't someone that never fails he's someone that learns from his failures. 

But if you are an entrepreneur on H1B, if you fail which you mostly would you end up getting kicked out from this nation. Tell me why would anyone undertake such a huge risk with the rate of 90% failure only to get booted from this nation. Of course they wouldn't, that's the plight of the H1B worker. 

You mean like Fraternities in USA, yes IIT's have that advantage..  Alumni networks do matter and networking does play a big role. 2nd para kosamey GC kachitanga undali or you need to be on H4 EAD to fail invariably in last 2-3 years and then once its revoked get back to h1b or just marry a citizen like one of my friends and become couch potato, sucker punch h1b friends by feeling pity at their shitty lives.  People don't believe it,  but going back to drawing board and re-prioritizing is a mandatory trait.

So what you are saying is that the ease of business index is utter BS and there's no such thing. It's as easy to start a business in US as it is in Somalia(which is ranked last btw on that index), am I right? 

Ease of business index is composed taking in mind various factors such as infrastructure, availability of private funding, venture capitalist outlook, political stability etc. So if it says India ranks a lowly 130 there's a reason behind it. Instead of analyzing and finding out why it is so, you are merely trying to sweep the issue under the carpet. Which isn't going to improve India's ranking by one bit btw. And who spoke about Uber or Amazon, you are the one that's bringing it up. All I am merely saying is that for someone with a GC and a good idea and execution plan, US is miles better than India.

ease of business is true but not about india.. its fairly easy to start a business in india, it might be tough for non citizens or multinationals..

That individual became successful because of the talent, opportunity and luck he had. GC is a very insignificant factor infact not even to be discussed in his journey.
I am ok with again going back to such a company, I really don't know what's preventing me from doing so. If you are genuinely giving your 100% and the company is decent, you still can.

so what he meant was if that person was in this Era he wouldn't even have been made CTO. Atleast, thats what i understood.  So if you can point out to me in this era any CTO who is on h1b of a 5k employee company, it would be good to know.  With Talent, Opportunity you can move ahead but there is Luck too as you said and GC falls under the category of Luck of Backlogs. So yes, it does play a role. If that fella was  in 2017, the Company would never make him CTO cuz he would be taking out american jobs. That's what the TS is pointing out to, that GC is a ladder. If you are okay about global perspective then yes you are right, Talent is not a slave of any country but opportunity is.

Cool, got it. Yup you are right. Frankly, these shouldn't stop us from giving our whole hearted attempts in whatever we do. Thats what I believe atleast.

Working in a startup all i can say is:

1. Budding Startup -> Its a gamble, if you are confident enough of the company you can give a try. Your relative "net pay" (stocks, pay, benefits, bonus) will be less than what you will get but considering the stocks you get and if it gets acquired you will be millionarie. Learning curve and growth will be very steep, also lots of pressure.

2. Reputed companies -> You can demand what you want and will be fairly good if you did your interview well. Learning curve will be ok, little bit laid back life.

2. Grown up startups -> uber, airbnb, dropbox, etc. These companies are like a mid of 1 and 2.

Dude this is insane man, may be you cannot become a CTO without GC but definitely you can be dev, lead, PM, VP with h-one for sure. I am one of them.
