AppDynamics isn't a start up anymore.

it is not reputed either. It become famous when Cisco bought it for 3+ billions.

There are many companies like that - Stripe, Cloudflare, cylance etc., Some of these do H1s

Can you tell me if there is anyone who is in a position of Cxx in any company currently?.

as far as I am aware it may be a handful start ups ( probably owned by desis)

thats were GC comes in handy to be at that level. Probably in Olden days people might have hired H1bs as there were negligible backlogs and less immigration constraints.

If you are super talented and can give your everything in a startup that’s a different case( they might opt for an EB1 or some overly talented GC case). In my Opinion TS was saying about the majority of the people’s case not that 5% people who could anyways survive anywhere.

Apparently you can join many of the small stage companies and many of them sponsor yeh-one. I worked in a start up where i was the 1st technical employee and 4th employee (CEO, CTO, CMO were others). Worked till the company became 50 and ultimately closed down due to funding issues.

I never had a problem with my immigration issues.

Naa example cheptha adhi kuda vinu man.

as in your case I was the first technical employee and we had 6 total employees working including me. In South Dakota. Due to Immigration issues and some revenue issues, I had to quit. After I quit that company is no more later after an Year. They dissolved it. So not every start up will be successful.

Yes you get to learn many things. And if that company would have been successful they might have offered me GC and if they really don’t want to lose me they would have applied under exceptional criteria I think it’s O1. But how many companies would make that decision in current scenario. It is a Huge risk in current market conditions.

Now if you have a GC you could take a risk of going for any startups if you are talented and if you are not you can even work Anywhere you like, with out having to worry about your status.

Once you get a family and kids it further reduces your chances of taking the risks. So the people who came in early or late nineties with are with out talented are in a much better situation than most of us

how is your question related to my reply? I am just saying that there are still  some start up companies that do H1s. I don't know how many are really willing to take the risks or how many of them reach c-level position.

I will give you a very good example of this, a lot of my family members are alumni of the university I attended, which is a pretty well known public university and land, sea and air grant institution of research. Most of them had been from my previous generation, so like 15 years older than me in the least.

One of my uncles ended up not taking a job with the bigger hardware companies like Intel at that time, this was in the mid 90s. He ended up working for a smaller semiconductor manufacturing company and went onto become one of the top 5 in the company, which eventually got acquired for a pretty hefty sum by their bigger rival based out of San Jose. He is retired today and pretty much mostly does some freelancing stuff depending on his time, he has homes in Asia(Singapore) and a vacation home in Venice. He pretty much lives life on his own terms. All because he got his GC with no effort around the time he applied.

Try to imagine us thinking about doing such things even 10 years from now, my bet is that we will still be slogging for that f***g GC.

It is well reputed, I use AppDynamics in our environment at the moment and AppDynamics is waaaay better than their closest competitors for the most part.

Plus they are continuing to innovate, so no AppDynamics isn't technically a start up anymore.

Those companies are reducing by the day, and with the latest coding initiatives being taken and supported by the government it will only be a matter of time before they have enough options to choose from locally. Guess who will face the axe when that happens, it will be people on H1B.

You said it, bingo.

People talk about the exceptions, conveniently forgetting that exceptions don't make up the rule.

95% getting the axe due to their visa status is a significant number.

I have a cousin, naakanna oka 3 years older. Came to US for Bachelor's back in 1998 and also got his MS after that. Spoke to him yesterday he was telling me, he got a family sponsor for his GC and had it before he came down to the US. He started working for a company that had 30 employees at that time. Today it has 5000 employees and has been rated as one of the top 20 fastest growing companies in the US for the last 2-3 years. When he joined he was the 6th employee and their first engineer, so ended up getting mentored by the CEOs directly. Last year he was promoted to the CTO and being one of the earliest employees, got a lot of stock portfolio apart from bonuses.

He is apparently quitting the company now to start his own business and with all the stocks and bonuses he made, he's a multi millionaire apparently. I think he did the smart thing, instead of joining an established company as a nobody he joined a company that was a nobody at that time. He's traveling the world to find some business contacts etc to setup his business.

What a difference having a GC does to a person, compared to how we keep slogging it out till eternity. Just wanted to share.

Thella pancha kattina prathodu factionist kadhu...gc vunna prathoduuu cto avvaledu.
