I see.

Do you happen to have an example where a good guy with a gun stopped a mass shooting? Not cops

naku telsi aithe didnt happen..

we forget that just because we have a gun doesnt mean we can stop the shooter..we might end up shooting innocent ppl too esp in a crowd..who can know who is good guy and whos bad.

Its best if left to cops and even better if govt can ban automatic rifles

haha perfect.

i still dont know why ppl need automatic military grade weapons for self protection

They don't, but bringing a law preventing one like that will require a constitutional amendment since this is so closely tied to the constitutional rights and the second amendment. So you can't pass such a law without alienating a significant amount of electorate, which no one is ready to do.

So these kind of unfortunate incidents will continue to happen.

Best advise is to get away as soon as you can. These psychopaths are inventing new ways to hurt people. They are using vehicles, hiding in places, using high grounds and sometimes even disguising as normal guy until they unleash the weapon. These guys have 100 ways to hurt people, but we only have one way to stop them. So, don't count on it.

Brother tell me what's the eventual solution? Totally stop people from having access to any firearms? Let's say that's the best option. But that's not going to happen we all know that, because that would require rewriting the constitution which no major political party would dare to even bring up a discussion about.

So the next best thing is for us to be prepared to the extent we can when such incidents happen. Even if 1% of the incidents are stopped due to people being vigilant, that would still mean a few hundred people might be saved compared to doing nothing which means even those 1% wouldn't be saved. Criminals will have access to firearms no matter whether there is a ban on them or not, that's another point to discuss.

Just say if 2-3 people become aggressive of this 1%, then also the numbers more or less match the list of doing nothing...

misuse of guns also is widely prevalent in this country...

Yes overall US has become a very dangerous place for the most part. Ala ani Europe lo safe aa ante adi kooda kaadu akkada they have their own problems with the influx of migrants committing crimes.

I think safest place right now is Canada. Although there's an incident or two that happen there as well, they are no where close to the magnitude of the crimes that happen in the US.

Okay then why aren't they able to do that, if the solution is so simple?

That's because as someone mentioned here, gun control is as sensitive a topic in the US as reservations are in India so no major political party is going to touch that issue. Plus lots of politicians are on NRA's payroll, not sure if you know that. That includes politicians on both sides.

The link you have posted shows crime statistics, who's denying or debating that here. You said no one has ever been saved by a person carrying a concealed firearm, I posted links proving your theory false. Your link has relevance to the discussion since I never denied the crime statistics caused by gun shootings in the US, so I don't know what you are trying to prove to yourself.

If you are so concerned about this, why don't you try to bring this issue up and talk to your local senator about banning firearms.
