CHRIS Lynn has been tipped to land a million-dollar payday next month if he can beat his injury curse in this summer’s Big Bash.

Indian Premier League’s mega-auction will take place in late January and Lynn will be one of the most intriguing entries.

He has shone for the Kolkata Knight Riders on a base salary of less than $300,000 but since that contract was signed in 2014 his rampaging power play has made him one of the most feared forces in world cricket.

 

Lynn has played just 12 IPL games including seven last season when he averaged around 50 for the Knight Riders at a sizzling strike rate of around 180.

The Knight Riders have the option of making Lynn one of three players they retain before auction and if they do his salary will be more than a million dollars a season.

If the Knight Riders let him go he will enter the world’s richest cricket auction where the salary cap has been expanded by 20 per cent to a staggering $16 million a team on the back of a massive television rights deal.

“Either way I think he (Lynn) will become a million-dollar player,’’ said Ricky Ponting, who coached the Mumbai Indians to the IPL title in 2013.

Andrew Symonds, who went for $1.47 million in the first IPL auction in 2008, said Lynn was going to go “for a lot of money’’ and that IPL scouts would be watching his progress closely over the next month to ensure he had fully recovered from a shoulder injury that has repeatedly undermined his career.

Lynn’s dynamic nine ball 25 in the Brisbane Heat’s win over the Sydney Thunder at the Gabba on Wednesday has heightened expectations Lynn is ready to recapture the form that rocked the competition last season.

“To hit one out of the guts first ball was a nice feeling, it shook off a lot of nerves early,” Lynn said.

“(But) because I started in fifth gear, I found it hard to go down the gears and that is something I will work on.

“I always want to dominate any bowler in any situation of the game. I felt like I was in control.

“It would’ve been nice to have faced a few more balls, but it wasn’t to be. I’m pretty confident I can build on that.”
