Haven't used Mini so can't really comment on it. But I believe, it will not have the same features as of Google Home.

Coming to the regular Google Home, there are  lot of things you can do with it. Some of them are illustrated below:

1. Smart Home -  You can control your smart home like setting up the thermostat temperature, turning on/off the lights, fans, etc.. 

2. Get answers to everyday questions, get the latest news, etc

3. Entertainment - Can Stream video on your TV through Chrome cast, audio through speakers..

4. You can set the alarm, ask for weather forecasts, check for traffic, track the flight prices, etc

And many more..
