But in India, concerns pertaining to costs and safety persist. Profitability, in particular, is a notoriously hard ask for high-speed train networks. The Japanese-developed bullet line in Taiwan for example, has been mired in debt since opening in 2007. For a high-speed line to succeed, ticket prices and passenger volume need to be high. It costs about US$130 for a one-way Shinkansen ticket from Tokyo to Osaka. And more than 350 trains operate on this line daily, ferrying 163 million passengers a year.

It is far from certain whether the Mumbai-Ahmadabad bullet can replicate statistics like this. It is expected to be operational by 2023.

they did a feasibility study and conclude this as the most feasible of all

- as a substitute for air travel. air travel is not profitable for such short distances, so bullet train are good for short distances and air travel for longer ones like mumbai to delhi/kolkata

- this corridor has received max business investments and more scope  for establishment of businesses

- land pooling was the easiest here and co ordination too as both bjp govts

- mumbai and ahmedabad had become crowded, so more businesses could be shifted to the 12 cities in the corridor . international business ppl when they come they look for faster transport. so more investment to come in that corridor

-more people that could afford are in mumbai/ahmedabad. as most business people from here.

bullet train will not be implemented by indian bureaucracy. it is implemented by japan. half of the investment is a direct FDI by japan other half is the loan.

so japan has a major stake in it to make it a success, they are looking to market their tech to the world. i didn't understand you drawing comparisons with things that indian bureaucrats implement.

The project is estimated to cost 1.1 lakh crore (US$17 billion).[33] The cost includes interest during construction and import duties.[34] JICA agreed to fund 81% of the total project cost 88,087 crore (US$14 billion), through a 50-year loan at an interest rate of 0.1% with a moratorium on repayments up to 15 years[35] and the remaining cost will be borne by the state governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat.[36][37] 20% of the components used on the corridor will be supplied by Japan, and manufactured in India.[38]

yes bullet rain is not for common man, it will replace air travel and decrease the load on a/c 3tier for this route which is very busy.

but theres something called primary/secondary/tertiary economy.

can you deny the secondary/tertiary economy due to the bullet train investment ?? and the benefit to common man due to this??

bro you are only thinking of travel in bullet train but not thinking of the above
