This issue highlights what a clusterfcuk the immigration situation in the US is. It's sometimes better to be an illegal immigrant than a legal one, in certain situations. 

On the brighter side, these kids have a good command over English and hopefully can live anywhere else in the world. They should look to move to places like Canada, Singapore, Australia or even Dubai etc.
