Supreme Court (SC) has the Centre to constitute special courts to try the corruption cases against Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs). It urged the Centre to submit a report, on the funds that are required for the purpose of setting up special courts, infrastructure and appointments of judgements, to it, within six months. This means, serious steps are being taken to curb corruption among political leaders. Earlier, Election Commission has proposed ban on all convicted MPs and MLAs from contesting elections.
