Jadoli Ka Bas (Rajasthan): As Alwar Police detained two people for the murder of Ummar Muhammad, the person who first found the body, claims that the 35-year-old was not only shot but also beheaded before being dumped on the Railway track.

Muhammad was found dead on the Railway lines between Ramgarh and Jadoli Ka Bas on November 10. Although the police are still awaiting the post-mortem reports, the case was made to be a shoot-out and eventual decapitation after a train ran over the dumped body.

It was Sonu Kumar, who first spotted the body and speaking to News18, revealed that he had informed his superiors that the positioning of the body showed that Muhammad "was beheaded first and then dumped on the track".

"The body was between the railway tracks but the head was outside it. He had injury marks on his legs and limb. I am sure someone placed the body on the tracks. If a train would have run over it, then the body wouldn’t have been intact. Moreover, how can a head get severed if the body is in between the tracks? The body has to be horizontally placed, not vertically,” said Kumar, who has been with the Railway workforce since the last one-and-a-half-years.

The Mathura-born Railway worker was the assigned key-man on the 1489/3-4 railway track point.

Another Railway worker, Jagdish Prasad, also corroborated the Kumar’s statement and said, "This was indeed a case of beheading first and then the body being dumped."

“I have been working as a key-man for the last one year and have been a gate-man for the last 10 years. I know how a body gets decapitated on the railway track. The way the body was found, it can never be decapitated by a train. Someone cut his head and only then placed him on the tracks. There needs to be some kind of injury on the body related to being run over by a train, at least as a result of force but in this case, there were no such marks. If a train severs a body, then parts are found along the railway route," said Prasad.

Kumar also mentioned that although he could not see the bullet injury on the chest, there was a “gaping hole on side of the intestinal area”.

"Apart from the severed head, I only saw the hole near the intestinal area. He was wearing a trouser, shirt and a pair of slippers. I noticed that his towel was new. The body must have been there for three to four hours," he said.

Though there are allegations that the murder is the handiwork of Gau Rakshaks, the police have remained tight-lipped and have registered an FIR under Section 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender), section 302 (Punishment for murder), among others to deal with the aspect of mutilation. This revelation, though, brings the spotlight back to the ‘dignity after death’ concept.

A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist, Anandan, was hacked to death near Guruvayur in Thrissur district of Kerala on Sunday.

The 26-year-old, an accused in a case relating to the murder of a Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) worker in 2013, was attacked by a gang of four persons, allegedly belonging to the CPI(M), near the Balarama Temple at Nenmini near Guruvayur around 1 p.m.

The assailants came in a car and hacked Anandan, who was riding a motorcycle along with his friend Vishnu. The attackers’ car first rammed his motorcycle. When Anandan fell from the vehicle, they chased and hacked him, witnesses said.

As people started gathering, the gang fled, leaving their car behind. They fled on motorcycles snatched from people nearby. Though Anandan was rushed to a hospital at Chavakkad, he could not be saved. His friend, Vishnu, who was also injured in the attack, is undergoing treatment.

Tension prevailed in Guruvayur and nearby areas after the murder. Senior police officers visited the scene of the attack from where a forensic team collected evidence. A strong police force is camping at the place.

‘Pinarayi must explain’

The murder evoked strong protest from Sangh organisations with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah asking Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to explain what his government was doing ‘to curb criminal elements in his rank’.

In a tweet within a few hours of the murder, Mr. Shah said: “I condemn the brutal killing of the young RSS Swayamsevak K Anand in Guruvayur, Kerala. The continuous violence by CPM workers and the protection of such political killings is now before the nation.”

Anandan was the second accused in the murder of DYFI activist Fazil on November 3, 2013. He was arrested and released on bail.

Hundreds of RSS and BJP workers thronged the hospital where Anandan was taken and later to the Government Medical College, Thrissur, where the body was shifted for post-mortem examination.

The district BJP leadership has called for a hartal in the Guruvayur and Manalur Assembly constituencies on Monday.

BJP district unit president Nagesh said the CPI(M) had turned Thrissur into a district where most political murders were happening after Kannur.

“The CPI(M) has become a murder gang in the district. Political murders are committed with the blessings of the leadership. It is the third political murder committed by the CPI(M) in the district after Pinarayi Vijayan took charge as Chief Minister. The CPI(M), which is scared of the BJP’s growth in the district, is trying to destroy the party by unleashing violence,” Mr. Nagesh said.

The BJP had last month taken out a Janaraksha Yatra to protest against alleged political killings in the State.

In the early evening, eight Hindus were hacked to death by a Muslim mob[1] on the beach after reeling in their catch for the day. The killers then escaped into the local Juma Masjid, the Marad enquiry commission's (Justice Thomas P Joseph) report notes the submission of then Kozhikode Police Commissioner T K Vinod Kumar that hundreds of local Muslim women converged on the mosque to prevent the police from entering it to catch the attackers[10]

Initial investigation report of the Crime Branch Inspector General of Police, Mahesh Kumar Singhla, had dropped enough hints that the NDF was behind the massacre of eight people at Marad on 2 May.[11] Mahesh Kumar Singhla was not able to give enough evidences in front of Thomas P Joseph commission on his arguments.[12]

Later, the government troops unearthed a huge cache of weapons including 17 bombs.[13] The police commissioner, TK Vinod Kumar stated: "It was an operation carried out by a well-knit organization. It was a quick and sudden attack which was over in 10 minutes. The attack came from a particular community
