Andhra Pradesh Government and Google’s X Development have entered into a landmark agreement to use X’s FSOC links (breakthrough free space optical communication technology) to help bring fast, reliable internet access to more people across the state. "This significant partnership will offer a major boost to the State’s digital infrastructure and help overcome hindrances in terms of connecting isolated and difficult terrain, forest areas, river crossings, railway crossings etc.," said Minister Nara Lokesh. The minister met Astro Teller, "Captain of Moonshots" and leader of Alphabet research and development arm X and briefed him about AP Gov's initiatives to leverage the power of internet to boost local economies.

"This association of AP FiberNet with X labs to implement FSOC in AP is first of its kind in the world to provide wireless internet connection at a higher speed of up to 20Gbps and to a distance of up to 20kms," Nara Lokeshadded.
