Exactly... bitcoin initial goal was to create your own currency and only you have control over it and not dependent on any Govt regulations now with all these forks it is getting greedy day by day heading in the same wrong direction.

yeah. we should just have bitcoin hardware wallets (like little cards), with each vendor running an exchange (swipe machine like), so people can simply use those wallets, like they use their regular wallets.

but bitcoin transactions are slow and expensive, and won't work this way. blockchain is overrated and gets bloated with time . IOTA is really cool for this.

but the problem with a decentralised currency will always be 3rd party arbitrer for transactions. with govt currency, govt will be arbitrer, but there's not enough trust within society to do away with arbitrers or to come up with a decentralized solution better than bitcoin, etc.

may be there can arise some 'bitcoin processing' companies. lol. that speed up wallet transactions so people can use it regularly.

This again has the problem of centralisation.

actually even having exchanges is a problem of centralization. cryptocurrencies have gone far from their intended use. No wonder Satoshi doesn't want to show hiimself up. he must be ashamed of creating bitcoin.

but he showed us the way to create our own communities. thanks to hiim.

batman_fan,

one good thing that has come out of bitcoin. The resistance movement against govt has caught up. every govt has taken notice of that. bitcoin is surging only because people don't trust their own govts and currencies.

hope this can be harnessed into finally removing national barriers, newer creative ways of people organizing themselves, and for free movement of people.

I think ETH founder himself has such lofty goals, and is frustrated at being stuck with this exchanges bullshit.

I agree. What annoys me most is that people who don't even know the basics about blockchain are predicting the value of the cryptos as if they are physical assets. They are just degrading the blockchain.

you are underestimating people. They know exactly what blockchain is (atleast many of the people here who are active on that in this db), but they chose to ignore its founding principles.

Ofcourse they don't wish to engage in community building, expanding the scope of this tech because its convenient and may make them some money.

when you are part of a group, you sometimes lose yourself to that group. cryptomania is one such group now. Its much worse than wall st, imo.

bunch of people happy at stocking away coins, and pretending to fight authority, without realising that they will be the ones with authority if they keep stocking on coins and leave nothing for others. In short, they don't want to fight the govt, they want to replace the govt. as the ultimate power. That's why they won't succeed.

people are smart, man. never underestimate or misanalyze their motives. just join them, and bide your time to fcuk them over, if you can :)

that's the only way you can keep your sanity, without becoming a zombie yourself.

They are just leveraging bitcoin to suit their purpose, which is money and consequentially power.

its the problem with the tech that it has failed to account for basic human frailty to be attracted to these.

I'll jump in glee when someone decrypts the blockchain, and everyone loses money on this. Even though, I have a considerable number of bitcoins myself.

anyway bitcoin is passe. ETH is impractical (atleast until now)

what we need is an interoperable blockchain (or a better distributed database tech), that can do away with the need for exchanges.

and for every community to have their cryptocurrencies. just fcuk the govt, and pay respects to Satoshi that way.

okay, I guess that is what it is.

Let them become rich and I only hope they donate part of it to good cause.

Until the govts don't coopt cryptos it should be fine. stealing from wallets, destroying blockchains, will be the hobby of hackers in the future.

the current hackers are too enamoured with bitcoin to bother about destroying it on a large scale. but destroyed it will be, if it continues on the current path for too long.
