I want to add -- I lived in 3 different cities. Winters are usually depressing. Like currently its snowing in spring in Toronto and Calgary.  Atleast, Calgary gets hot airs in winters called chinooks. We hookup our cars electrically when parked in winters (older cars) in colder places.

Apart from Home Rentals, you have to keep in mind - utilities. I believe some apartments have all inclusive, in case you are living in Town house or detached home the utility bills are high. Auto insurance is high in Toronto. Rental insurance is  a must. Even though you have health insurance, still have to add additional insurance for benefits like dental, optical and medicines etc. If you have FT, these are covered. Also, mobile plans are terrible.  Groceries are okay in Toronto but slightly expensive in other places. Even McD does not have same price and deals in comparison.

There are good benefits like RRSP and RESP for education and retirement etc similar to 401k. If you have kids based on the family income they get benefits till they are 18.

There are pros and cons in both countries. Definitely Toronto is multi cultural.

To add few more points. Comparatively very less jobs. Crazy weather.  You will feel slightly racially isolated unlike here  in US. Extremely safe though.
