Minister #Talasani Srinivas Yadav TS Govt will stand by victims of #Tollywood Casting Couch | NAYAK TV Hyderabad: With the row over alleged casting couch in the Telugu film industry turning into an unending and ugly controversy, the Telangana State government has decided to intervene and ensure safety of female artistes and other professionals in the film industry. Minister for Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav will hold a meeting with senior police officials and members of Telugu film industry at his chambers in the Secretariat on Saturday. The Minister took the decision following representations from various quarters to initiate action against perpetrators of casting couch in the film industry and also create a safety mechanism for female professionals in the industry. There is a growing demand for setting up a high level committee involving officials as well as film industry representatives to ensure justice for victims of casting couch. On Friday, members of various womens’ and rights organisations met Srinivas Yadav seeking action with regard to complaints of casting couch. A delegation led by leaders of Progressive Organisation for Women (POW) urged him to ensure basic facilities like toilets and changing rooms for female artistes. The women and rights activists wanted the government to introduce stringent norms against film training institutes as some fraudsters were taking advantage and exploiting people aspiring to enter the film industry. They also sought the government support to ensure social and financial security to film industry professionals.
