Hyderabad: MLA A. Revanth Reddy, who is an accused in the cash-for-vote case, alleged that on the directions of the Prime Minister Nare-ndra Modi, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has reopened the cash-for-vote case.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he said that for the Prime Minister, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is the target and for Telangana Chief Minister KCR, he is the target. Mr Revanth Reddy alleged that Modi and Kedi (KCR) are playing a drama to target them.

Mr Revanth Reddy said that the KCR government is protecting corrupt people and in 2016, cases instituted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against 125 officials were withdrawn. He said some of them were caught red-handed but cases were withdrawn citing lack of evidence. He said that the TRS government is pre-eminent in the country in protecting corrupt people.

He alleged that cases against Dr Seshagiri Rao, head of the department in Nims, and Sanjeeva Rao, Kukatpally ACP, were wit-hdrawn because they are relatives of the CM.

He said that there are many allegations of corruption in various government departments but the state government just does not take any action.

He said that there is a political angle in the review of cash-for-vote case by Mr KCR.

He said that Mr Naidu has given a call to defeat the BJP in the Karnataka Assembly elections and because of this, on the suggestion of Mr Modi, Mr Rao has reopened the cash-for-vote case.

Mr Revanth Reddy said in the past, at the time of the TRS plenary, ministers looted the state and collected hundreds of crores of rupees. When he filed a case about this, the court directed the ACB to enquire, but the state government did not take any action.
