KG Bopaiah, BJP MLA for Virajpet will be the pro tem Speaker for tomorrow’s floor test, news channels have reported. Bopaiah is a three-time legislator and was the Speaker from November 17, 2009 to May 31, 2013.

Bopaiah had favoured Yeddyurappa in a trust vote in 2010 and the appointment has been made to "manufacture majority" for the BJP. "The convention is to appoint the senior-most MLA without showing bias towards man, woman and party. By this convention, RV Deshpande should have been appointed. RV Deshpande is an eight-time MLA and was expected to be appointed the pro tem speaker,"
