It will take one more year for Telangana state to become a power surplus State. TS Government has doubled the power generation in the last four years but has to wait one more year to become self-sufficient in power generation. According to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), TS is in deficit of 8,372 million units against the requirement of 71,214 million units in 2018-19 year.

The CEA in its report said that the anticipated power supply across the country in 2018-19 will be 13,37,036 MU and available power is 13,98, 706 MU. Region-wise only southern and eastern regions are in deficit stage. In the southern states AP and Karnataka are power surplus and TS, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are in power deficit.

The power requirement in AP is 62,602 MU whereas 67,134MU power is available. In Karnataka, the required power is 73,621 MU and availability of power is 77,140 MU. Kerala is 1,599 MU, Tamil Nadu 204 MU and Telangana 8,372 MU in deficit.

Compared to national level, the per capita power consumption is high in TS. The average per capita power consumption at national level is 1,122 units and in TS it is 1,500 units. The free power supply to agriculture sector is consuming more power; no other state is implementing 24x7 free power supply to agri sector like TS.

When TS was formed, the power generation in the state was 7,778 MW and at present the power generation is 15,376 MW. Further the power projects with the capacity of 12,807 MW are under various stages.  The TRANSCO officials said Kottagudem Thermal Power station (KTPS) 7th phase has the capacity of 800 MW, Manuguru power plant has capacity of 1080 MW , Singareni power plant has the capacity of 800 MW and NTPC unit has the capacity of 1600 MW and they will start production in 2019. They said with this power generation Telangana will become a power surplus State.

In addition to this Yadadri and other power plants are also under construction. They said in Telangana 24x7 power is being supplied to all sectors and there is no power cut to any sector.

Power Generation in TS as on 2nd June 2014: 7778 MW
Power Generation as on today: 15376 MW
Power requirement in 2018-19: 71, 214 MU
Power availability: 62,642 MU
Power deficit: 8372MU
**
Power generation likely to start in 2019

Water time ki undalane kadha...24/7 power ichedhi...and it makes perfect sense to enable the farmer to go for water-dependent crops by making power free, unlike other freebies.

Overnight, projects kattaleru kada? Mari gatham lo projects endhuku kattukoledu ani aduguthavemo, you know the answer... @androllakutra (andhra rulers I mean, no offense on Andhra people)

Mixed reactions from farmers to new MSP

Paddy support price must be at ₹2,500, say ryots

There is a mixed reaction to the minimum support price (MSP) announced for as many as 14 crops by the Centre on Wednesday.

While many farmers express dissatisfaction at the increase in rate of MSP the BJP leaders are happy at the amount thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Government for the initiative. They describe it as an unprecedented decision to enhance the incomes of farmers. “We abide by the Alur Declaration which offers not less than ₹ 2,000 per quintal of paddy, ₹5,000 soya and ₹6,000 for pulses. Centre should have announced the rates considering the Swaminathan Commission recommendations. With the new rates farmers would not get benefit,” maintained DCC president Taher Bin Hamdan.

He is of the opinion that farmers would be happy if the differential amount is paid by the State government. Given the increase in rates of all inputs the new MSP would be of no use, he says.

Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham district president Peddi Venkatramulu said the MSP should be decided at least one and half time to the input cost like in Kerala where per quintal price of paddy was fixed at ₹2,300. He said in Kerala and Karnataka the governments were paying bonus rates.

“We suggested to the Centre to include the cost of labour contributed by the members of the farmer families besides the input costs while deciding the MSP for all crops. However, it seems to have been excluded. Therefore, the rates are not satisfactory,” says Ayyangari Surender Reddy, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh State leader.

Akula Manik, a farmer from Hunsa village in Bodhan mandal says the increase in amount is very meagre when compared to abnormal increase in rates of DAP, urea and fertilizers and pesticides. The price of DAP bag has gone up to ₹1,260 from ₹860 while urea rate to ₹300 from ₹230. Besides, labour rates have gone up to ₹450 per day, he adds.

Another farmer E. Shivakumar of Nadapur in Balkonda mandal is also not happy at the new MSP rates saying the seed prices are not within the reach of an ordinary farmer. The ten kg paddy seed is sold at ₹1,500 in the market. Compared to investments the new MSP would not fetch any benefit to farmers. Paddy rate must be at ₹2,500, he says.

In both the kharif and yasangi in the erstwhile undivided district different crops are cultivated in over 8.50 lakh acres and paddy is mostly transplanted.
